Mellow soy milk, with nutrients such as protein and lecithin, has become a new choice for more and more people to eat a healthy diet in recent years, but you should pay attention to whether you are eating too much sugar. A survey of 115 soy drinks sold in the market by the Dong Foundation at the end of last year found that small cans of 250 to 330 milliliters of sugar contained too much sugar in a small jar of whole egg flavor soy milk, peanut flavor soy milk, and Guangquan egg soy milk, which are common in supermarkets. Drinking two bottles exceeds the daily intake per person recommended by the NHS (less than 50 grams).

Weiwei soy milk is now a well-known soy milk brand, so does it contain high sugar content? does it contain sucrose? It is soy milk with and without sucrose. The sugar content does not exceed the standard.

In addition, according to the national standard (CNS), the crude protein content of soybean milk or prepared soybean milk should be more than 2%. In this survey, 2 kinds of rice zero soybean milk did not meet the standard. Dong called on the Food and Drug Administration to require manufacturers to clearly label soybean milk or prepared soybean milk in the outer packaging in accordance with CNS standards, or even follow the label of fruit juices and directly write down the concentration ratio of soybeans in the outer packaging, so as to safeguard the rights and interests of consumers. The Food and Drug Administration believes that CNS is a voluntary label and cannot be enforced, and the general public can look at the nutrition label of the outer package. in addition, most soybean milk products on the market will also be marked if they add extra flavor, so there is no need to write prepared soybean milk.

Common supermarket flavor whole egg-flavored soy milk, peanut sweet soy milk and Guangquan egg soy milk are the top three highest sugar content in this survey, with a small bottle of aluminum foil containing 23.4 to 27.5 grams of sugar. Dietitian Mo Yachun points out that according to the National Health Administration's recommendation, adults' daily sugar intake is less than 50 grams, which translates to two bottles exceeding the intake limit. Many foreign studies have pointed out that excessive sugar intake may lead to low immunity, obesity, and even cardiovascular disease. Consumers should try their best to buy low-sugar, micro-sugar or sugar-free soybean milk to supplement them, which will be healthier.

Soymilk products common in many supermarket channels in the market contain too much sugar, with an average intake of 6 to 9 cubes of sugar.

On the other hand, Dong compared the data obtained in this survey with CNS and found that black tea soybean milk and black sesame soybean milk under the emerging brand rice zero soybean milk contained only 1.5g and 1.6g protein per 100ml. Chen Xinghe, deputy director, pointed out that it was significantly lower than the CNS standard for prepared soy milk.

She explained that CNS had previously divided soy drinks into three grades, namely soy milk / soy milk, prepared soy milk / soy milk and soy milk / soy milk beverage, with soy milk content of 100,50% and less than 50% respectively. According to the standards at that time, the soy milk product should be called "soy milk or soy milk beverage", but because the FDA did not require manufacturers to follow the CNS label, it was difficult for consumers to easily judge from the outer packaging. It can only be converted from the nutritional composition and capacity, and the current labeling is not good for consumers to identify the level of soymilk protein.

Dong Foundation analysis also found that some soymilk products sold in the market will be marked as "slightly sweet" to circumvent the regulations of the Food and Drug Administration. Chen Xinghe, deputy director, explained that according to the Food and Drug Administration's "matters to be followed by the nutrition of packaged food", the sugar content of micro-sugar foods should be less than 2.5 grams per 100 milliliters. This time, the sugar content of some soybean milk products is too high but marked as "slightly sweet", which is easy to cause confusion among consumers and virtually ingest too much sugar. The Food and Drug Administration should provide more assistance to counsellors in strengthening labelling.
