Swimming crab, also known as white crab, is a more common crab in our country. Because of its meat quality, its listing is relatively early and the price is small and expensive, so many people breed it. What did the swimming crab eat to grow up? Fish or carrion? What do you need to pay attention to when breeding?

1. Swimming crabs are omnivorous animals. They like to eat shellfish, fresh fish and shrimp, as well as algae sprouts, corpses of marine animals and decaying aquatic plants. Moreover, the feeding habits are different in different growth stages, and the young crabs tend to be omnivorous, and the bigger the individual is, the more carnivorous they are. Usually eat less during the day and eat a lot in the evening and at night. However, when the water temperature is below 10 ℃ and above 32 ℃, the swimming crab stops feeding.

2. The swimming crab is dioecious. The average life expectancy is 2 years, rarely more than 3 years. The smallest biological body is cephalosternum 5.1 cm long, the largest male is 11 cm wide and weighs 710 grams, and the largest female is 10.5 cm in length, 22 cm wide and 730 grams in weight. The spawning population is mainly composed of 1-2-year-old parent crabs. The female dies after spawning and hatching. Males can die after mating for 3 days. The mating time of the overwintering swimming crab is from July to August every year, while the peak mating period of the current swimming crab is from September to October.

Matters needing attention in culture:

1. Aquaculture water quality

In the past, only attention was paid to pH, oxygen, temperature and salinity, but not enough attention was paid to calcium. In fact, calcium is very important to the growth of crabs, shrimps and shellfish. if there is a little deficiency, it is slow to grow or difficult to shell.

The biological density of calcium in the pond is much higher than that in the natural sea area, and the demand for calcium is also relatively high. Relying on the change of water alone, the demand is definitely in short supply, especially in the middle and later stages of culture.

The application of quicklime is an effective measure, which can not only increase the source of calcium, but also adjust the pH value, but if the frequency or dosage is too large, it is bound to kill some useful bacteria and microorganisms and make the ecology of the pond out of balance.

2. Equipped with oxygen-increasing equipment

Swimming crabs, because they live at the bottom during the day, are often not easy to detect when they are starved of oxygen, but by the time you find out, the consequences have already been caused. Therefore, in the season of high temperature and low air pressure, it is necessary to turn on the machine to increase oxygen at any time.

3. Temperature

Swimming crab "appetite" is closely related to water temperature, eating vigorously at 20-30 ℃, but not at other temperatures.

4. Salinity

When the salinity of pond water is more than 1.015, sandy bottom or silty bottom and the average water depth is more than 1.5m, the finished swimming crab has good body color, clean appendages, close to natural swimming crab and high commercial value.
