Chickens are the main breeding objects of farmers, if raised well, they can make money, and if they are not raised well, there will be serious economic losses, such as coccidiosis. So, what are the symptoms of chicken coccidiosis? How to prevent and cure it?

What are the symptoms of chicken coccidiosis?

1. Chicken coccidiosis is an acute epidemic parasitic disease caused by one or more coccidiosis, which is caused by one or more coccidios. there are 13 species of chicken coccidiosis recorded in the world, and 9 species have been found in China. Different species of coccidiosis have different parasitic sites in chicken intestines, and their pathogenicity is also different.

2. Eimeria tenella is parasitic in the cecum and has the strongest pathogenicity; the virulent Eimeria is parasitic in the 1/3 segment of the small intestine with strong pathogenicity; the giant Eimeria is parasitic in the middle part of the small intestine and has a certain pathogenicity; the heap type of Eimeria is parasitic in the duodenum and the anterior segment of the small intestine and has a certain pathogenicity; gentle Eimeria and Eimeria harryi parasitized in the anterior segment of the small intestine with low pathogenicity. Precocious Eimeria parasitized in the first 1/3 segments of the small intestine with low pathogenicity, Eimeria brucellii parasitized in the posterior segment of the small intestine and the root of the cecum, had a certain pathogenicity, and transpositional Eimeria parasitized in the small intestine, rectum and cecum.

3. If it is chronic coccidiosis, diseased chickens will have diarrhea but without blood, decline in production performance and increased susceptibility to other diseases; if it is acute coccidiosis, diseased chickens will appear mental and anorexia, increased appetite, rough coat, diarrhea, feces often with blood, anemia, visible mucous membrane, chicken crown, meat droop pale, dehydration, skin wrinkling, production performance decline, serious can cause death.

Second, how to control chicken coccidiosis?

The economic losses caused by chicken coccidiosis are astonishing. The morbidity and fatality rate of 10-30-day-old chicks or 35-60-day-old young chickens can be as high as 80%. Adult chickens generally do not suffer from the disease, but they are carriers, which is an important source of transmission of coccidiosis; the growth of cured chicks is hindered and the weight gain is slow. Therefore, chicken coccidiosis had better be prevented.

1. Prevention of coccidiosis in chickens.

Method 1. Management and prevention: chicken sheds should be kept dry, ventilated and hygienic, and montmorillonite powder should be spread on the ground, which can improve ground dryness and bacteriostasis, regularly remove feces and pile up fermentation to kill coccidiosis oocysts; cages, material tanks and sinks should be disinfected regularly to kill coccidiosis oocysts; adult chickens and chicks should be fed separately to prevent the spread of pathogens in adult chickens from the outbreak of coccidiosis.

Method 2. Feeding and prevention: adding 0.25~0.5mg selenium to chicken diet can enhance chicken's resistance to coccidiosis; swallowing a small amount of infectious oocysts to chicks every day can gain immunity; adding probiotics, such as Bifidobacterium, lactic acid bacteria, etc., to maintain the balance of intestinal flora, reduce the incidence of chicken enteritis, and effectively resist coccidia infection.

Method 3. Immune prevention: vaccinate chickens with coccidiosis vaccine. it is reported that chickens can have a better preventive effect on coccidiosis by inoculating chickens with weakening strains of chicken embryos or attenuated strains selected prematurely.

Method 4. Drug prevention: there are chlorophenylguanidine, amproline, nifedipine, monensin, salinomycin (coccidial powder, Yusujing), diclazuril, Madulamicin (anti-ball king, du ball, Jiafu), nicarbazine, etc., which can be used as mixed feed with good preventive effect.

2. Treatment of chicken coccidiosis.

It is generally treated with drugs, such as toltrazuril solution (Kuiwen Poultry Institute), sulfonamides, compound sulfamethoxine (SMD-TMP), sulfaquinoxaline (SQ), sulfamethoxine (SDM), sulfamethoxazine (SMM,DS-36), sulfamethazine (SM2), sulfamethazine (Esb3), mixed feeding or drinking water.

The above is the introduction of the symptoms and control methods of chicken coccidiosis. I hope it will be useful to you.
