Laying hens are mainly caged and free-range (or free-range). Compared with stocking, the culture efficiency of cage culture is higher, such as feed conversion rate and laying rate are higher than the stocking method; stocking can improve the quality of eggs and meet the needs of consumers for egg quality. Breeding to do a good job in epidemic prevention is a top priority. The second is the reasonable transformation of beverages.

What are the types of commercial varieties of laying hens?

According to the color of eggshell, commercial breeds of modern laying hens are mainly divided into the following three types.

The main results are as follows: (1) all modern white-shell laying hens come from single-crowned white Leghorn varieties, and two-line, three-line or four-line hybrid commercial laying hens are produced by cultivating different pure lines. Generally, the sex-linked fast and slow feathering genes are used to realize the self-differentiation of chicks in the commercial generation. This kind of chicken is suitable for intensive cage management. The common white shell laying hens in production are Xingza 288, Babcock B300, Highland W36, Hyland W98, Romanbai, Dikabai, Niebai, Jingbai 938 and so on.

(2) Brown shell laying hens mainly use sex-associated feather color genes to separate themselves from male and female chicks. The main matching model is to take Luodao Red Chicken (with a small amount of New Hanxia Chicken pedigree) as the paternal line and Luodao White Chicken or White Locke Chicken with sex-associated silver gene as the maternal line. When using the transverse spot gene to distinguish between male and female, the Luodao red chicken or other non-transverse feathered chicken breeds (such as Australian black chicken) were used as the paternal line and the horizontal spotted Locke chicken as the maternal line to produce commercial brown shell laying hens. The common brown shell laying hens in production are Highland Brown, Roman Brown, Issa, Hessex Brown, Nick Red and so on.

(3) Light brown shell (or pink shell) laying hens are produced by crossing light white Leghorn hens with medium-sized brown shell laying hens, so they can be used as the standard breeds of modern white shell laying hens and brown shell laying hens. At present, the Luodao Red Chicken is mainly used as the paternal line, crossed with the White Leghorn Chicken Mother Line, and the sex-associated fast and slow feathering genes are used to distinguish between male and female.
