Is the ladybug a beneficial bug or a pest?

Ladybugs have both beneficial insects and pests. There are many species of ladybugs, with more than 5000 species in the world and 530 species recorded in China. According to their feeding habits, lady beetles can be divided into carnivorous, herbivorous and fungous. Among them, carnivorous ladybugs feed on aphids, herbivorous ladybugs feed on the leaves of crops, and fungous ladybugs feed on powdery mildew. It can be seen that carnivorous and fungous ladybugs are beneficial insects and herbivorous ladybugs are pests.

What are the species of ladybugs?

Ladybugs are mainly divided into three types, namely, carnivorous, herbivorous and fungous.

Among them, Coccinella septempunctata mainly feeds on the leaves of grapes, wild grapes and berries, eggplant 28 mainly harms the leaves of Solanaceae and melon crops, and Cucurbitaceae feed on the leaves of Cucurbitaceae.

3. Fungus-eating ladybugs: there are Kirschia ladybugs, 12 spot brown fungus ladybugs and so on, all of which live on powdery mildew and so on.
