Raising tortoises in paddy field is a new culture technology in which animals and plants grow in the same environment and are ecologically mutually beneficial. It is also the reuse of the space between crops in paddy fields, which does not occupy land resources, and can save raising costs. Complementary and mutually beneficial measures such as reducing the harm of field pests and reducing the amount of fertilizer used in paddy fields can greatly improve the economic benefits per unit area.

1. Rice field selection and facilities choose fields with better water sources, convenient drainage and irrigation and should not leak, and establish anti-escape facilities around the rice fields, surrounded by thick plastic film to form an anti-escape wall 50 to 80 centimeters high, or asbestos tiles, etc. in principle, the tortoise can not escape. Several ditches are dug in the field, with a depth of 30cm to 50cm and a width of 40cm to 60cm. A spawning platform with a length of 5m and a width of 1m is built in the middle of the field, which can be piled with mud, with sand in the middle and a 45-degree slope around it, so that turtles can lay eggs. 2. the species of free-range turtles should be mainly aquatic turtles such as grass turtles, yellow-throated water turtles, colorful turtles, crocodile turtles, silver turtles, etc., but not dry turtles, and turtles that can climb and escape easily. such as eagle-billed turtle, four-eye turtle, six-eye turtle and so on. Variety collocation and specifications according to local conditions, but as unified as possible, in order to eat evenly, to prevent competition for food, can be raised alone or mixed. 3, stocking density after rice planting, you can put turtle species, such as breeding, generally stocked 120 per mu (female-to-male ratio is 2:1); such as raising commercial turtles, that is, the effect of that year's release of young turtles per mu (80g 100g) or 2-year-old effect of juvenile turtles (8g 10g) 2000, requiring the selection of robust and disease-free turtles into the field. 4. Feed feeding should be fixed, fixed, quantitative and qualitative every day, but if there are insects and small aquatic animals in the rice fields for turtles to feed, the amount of feed can be reduced, which is half lower than that of the conventional daily dose (3%) (refers to full-price feed). For example, if some snails and Loach are put in advance in the rice field, these aquatic animals can continue to reproduce and feed the turtles freely, saving the feeding cost. Plant feed can be released in advance in the field red, green duckweed and so on, field weeds are also delicious plant feed for turtles. 5. Daily management in the field, as turtles can eat plant feed, it is not suitable to use herbicides. The turtle's own feces can be used as fertilizer, so the amount of fertilizer applied in the field is half that of conventional fertilization. Generally speaking, each cropping rice only needs to sprinkle 15 kilograms of urea per mu. The usual water level in the field is kept at 6-10 cm, which is not dry in principle, and there is water in the ditch. Water should be irrigated frequently in the hot season to keep the water fresh. 6. Disease prevention and pest prevention when turtles are raised in double-cropping rice fields, the first rice harvest coincides with the height of summer. The ditch should be shaded after harvest, and fresh straw can be tied and covered at the edge of the ditch with local materials, so as not to cause the tortoise to die when the water temperature exceeds 42 ℃. Because the tortoise has the ability to catch and kill pests, insect pests are difficult to occur in the middle and lower part of rice, and only the upper leaves of rice stalks sometimes have pests. You can use high-efficient and low-toxic pesticides. When spraying pesticides, spray fine mist as far as possible, so that the medicine will not sink to the field. If there are conditions, you can first feed the turtles with detoxification to prevent them, or you can use bait to take the turtles into a safe area before applying the medicine. Young turtles should prevent snakes, rats, eagles and other harm into the field. The main disease of raising turtles in rice fields is enteritis, which can be added to the bait every half a month. Wild plant feed such as iron amaranth, purslane, broccoli and so on have special effect on preventing enteritis. Due to the low density of stocking in rice fields and the excellent environment, the disease is generally less. Those that achieved results at that time can be caught and sold before the Beginning of Winter, and the turtles sold the next year can be put into ponds or raised indoors, or they can survive the winter naturally.
