Low temperature in winter, chicks due to poor cold resistance, unreasonable diet, lack of brood defense equipment, and no systematic epidemic prevention and other factors, resulting in low survival rate.

The measures to improve the survival rate of chicks are:

1. Do a good job in brooding and heat preservation. 1 week after hatching, the brood temperature should be 30-32℃, with chickens evenly distributed, not in piles, pay attention to keep the air fresh, prevent indoor carbon dioxide, ammonia concentration rise, cause respiratory diseases, while brood house should also prevent humidity.

2, strengthen the brood protection measures, put an end to rats, dogs and other injuries.

3. Rationally equip brood ration to meet growth demand. Protein feed (beans, cakes, fish meal) should account for 19%-20% of the diet.

4. Strictly implement planned immunization and drug prevention: Marek disease vaccine at 1 day old; Newcastle disease and fowlpox vaccine at 7-10 days old; avian influenza vaccine at 15 days old; sulfa drugs can be used to prevent coccidiosis after 10 days old; avian cholera at 3 months old.
