Duying has good material, strong adaptability and less diseases and insect pests. It is an excellent variety for courtyard viewing and greening on all sides. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang; Vietnam, born in low mountain valleys. So, is du Ying an evergreen or a deciduous tree?

Is du Ying evergreen or deciduous?

Du Ying is an evergreen tree plant. It can be up to 15 meters high, the leaves are leathery, lanceolate or oblanceolate, with small obtuse teeth on the margin; the petiole has puberulent hairs at first and becomes bald when fruiting. Drupe elliptic, exocarp glabrous, endocarp bony, florescence June-July.

Second, the breeding method of du Ying

Du Ying mainly sows and propagates, its florescence is from June to August, its fruiting period is from October to November, and the drupe is conical and dark purple. Generally, the seeds can be sowed immediately after seed collection, and the seeds can also be stratified with wet sand to be sowed in the following spring. In the seedling stage, thin fertilizer can be applied several times in summer, and the seedlings will be planted separately in the spring of the following year. Small seedlings should be planted with soil, while large seedlings should be transplanted with soil balls and some branches and leaves should be thinned properly, and the survival rate is very high after planting.

1. Sowing seeds

The mother tree of seed collection and seed treatment should choose the plant with the age of more than 15 days, strong growth and free of diseases and insect pests. When the fruit changes from turquoise to dark green in late October, the drupe will mature and seeds should be collected in time. After harvest, the fruit can be stacked in a cool place or soaked in water for 1-2 hours. after the exocarp softens, scrub and rinse, rinse with clean water, and store in time after indoor spreading and drying (seeds must not be exposed to the sun, nor should they be stored for a long time). Most of the seeds of Duying genus have the phenomenon of deep dormancy, and the germination rate can be significantly increased by low temperature stratification storage with wet sand (up to more than 60%).

2. Cuttage

At the beginning of summer, cuttings were cut from the semi-lignified shoots of the same year, the length of the cuttings was 10-12 cm, and the lower leaves were cut off, while 2-3 leaves were retained in the upper part, and each leaf was cut off by half. Soak the base of the cuttings with 100mg / kg NAA or 50mg / kg ABT rooting powder solution for 2-4 hours. Use vermiculite or river sand as substrate, pour enough water after insertion, close and moisturize with plastic film arch shed, shade and cool. Generally, there is no need for water spraying management, 0.1% potassium permanganate solution is sprayed every other week to prevent decay. Full-light automatic spray can be used to raise seedlings where conditions permit. The experimental results show that using this device to raise seedlings, the cuttings begin to take root about 20 days after cuttage, and the survival rate of cuttings can reach more than 90%. Fewer diseases and insect pests.
