First, the benefits of wax sealing

1. The wax seal scion forms a thin wax film on the surface of the scion, seals the epidermis stomata and the incisions at both ends of the scion, reduces water evaporation by more than 90% compared with the ordinary scion, and has the effect of protecting the scion.

two。 The grafting time is long, the branch grafting of jujube is generally from mid-late April to early May, while the wax-sealed scion can prolong the branch grafting of jujube to late July.

3. The survival rate is high, the wax-sealed scion can not only protect the scion fresh, but also effectively prevent the loss of water caused by strong wind and drought within more than half a month after grafting.

4. Reduce the working procedure, use wax-sealed scion grafting, do not need to seal soil pile and complex packaging.

2. Wax sealing method

Put the industrial paraffin into the container and add some water and a little rosin to warm it. When the temperature of the wax rises to 100 ℃, start dipping in the wax. The scion is cut according to the length needed for grafting. When dipping in wax, take one end of the scion and quickly dip it in wax, then dip it upside down and dip it on the other end for no more than 1 second, so that the whole scion is sealed by a thin layer of paraffin wax. After cooling and solidification, hang the label, put it in a bag, store it in a low-temperature and high-humidity kiln, or then use it for grafting.

Matters needing attention

1. Strictly control the temperature and time when the scion is dipped in wax, when the temperature is low, the paraffin layer is prone to crack, and when cutting the scion, the wax layer may fall off, affecting the survival rate of grafting. The temperature is too high, if the speed of dipping wax is slow, it is easy to scald the bark or buds, therefore, we must master the temperature well, and the speed should be fast.

two。 There is no water in the scion before and after dipping wax, the wax of the water branch is not easy to stick, and the wax film is easy to fall off after seeing the water.

3. The scion cut on the same day should be sealed on the same day to reduce the loss of moisture before wax sealing. If the wax-sealed scion is not used for the time being, it should be kept in a kiln with low temperature and high humidity.
