Sowing time

Sow seeds directly outside. If it is broccoli harvested in summer, sow two to three weeks before the last spring frost. Indoor sowing is the same as outdoor sowing, except that there is no need to dilute when separating plant seedlings.

Field management

Although broccoli likes the sun, it also needs a certain amount of shade, digging a hole 1.25 cm deep, with each row 7.5-15 cm apart. Water the soil thoroughly after sowing broccoli seeds. But be careful not to leave puddles. Broccoli needs to be well drained. When the seedlings grow to 2.5 centimeters high, they need to be thinned in order to give them enough space to grow. Leave the seedlings that look healthy, and sparse the seedlings at intervals to ensure that there is enough space between the seedlings to grow.

Soil fertilizer

Broccoli is suitable for growing in soil with pH of 6. 0 to 7. 0. If the soil pH value is less than 6.0, acid compost or mixed fertilizer can be used, and if the soil pH value is higher than 7.0, sulfur particles can be mixed. To make the soil more fertile, add four inches of mature compost to the soil. If the soil is very poor, organic fertilizer with high nitrogen content can also be added. Organic fertilizers such as alfalfa, cottonseed meal and manure are very suitable for growing broccoli.
