Grape and what kind of tree can be grafted?

Grapes can be grafted with plants of the grape family with high affinity, such as seedling grape, mountain grape, hairy grape and snake grape.

The selection of scions (rootstocks) which are similar in tissue structure, physiology and heredity is very beneficial to the survival of grafting.

When will the grapes be grafted?

The time of grape grafting varies with region and climate. Generally speaking, grape grafting is carried out in the north from mid-June to mid-July, while the best time for grape grafting in the south is between May and August in summer.

Third, how are grapes grafted?

There are many methods of grape grafting, and you can choose the grafting method according to the actual situation:

1. Grape split grafting

It is the same as the ordinary splitting method. For the wounds and petioles and tendril wounds exposed at the upper end of the scion, use a film to seal and moisturize, similar to wearing a cap.

two。 Long cut grape

Cut with ordinary, make full use of the length of grape internodes to create a larger healing surface. At the 1ach3 of the wider side of the scion, use a double-sided blade to cut straight and smooth from bottom to top to the bud (node). The rootstock is corresponding and the ear rootstock can be wrapped closely.

3. Grape bud grafting

The bud is grafted on the internodes of the new shoots of the rootstock, the internodes are straight and smooth, and are easy to be grafted. The buds were inoculated on May 17 and the buds grew 4 cm and 2 leaves on June 6. The grafting bud can also be grafted on the bud position of the rootstock, the bud is replaced with the bud, and then wrapped with plastic film, this method has little effect on the new shoot growth and fruit of the rootstock.

After the completion of grafting, it is necessary to do a good job in managing grape seedlings:

1. Watering

Keep the soil moisture sufficient and the ground surface moist within 1 week after grafting, get rid of the sprouting on the rootstock in time and repeatedly, concentrate nutrition, and promote the germination and growth of buds.

two。 Pest control

Starting from the first ten days of May, spray Bordeaux solution with 0.5-200 times Bordeaux solution every 10-15 days to prevent disease. Once diseases and insect pests occur, drugs can be selected according to the types of diseases and insect pests and sprayed to eliminate them in time.

3. Pick the heart

When the new shoot grows to 25-30 cm, it needs to be pulled and tied in time, and it will be coring at the top of the new shoot in the later growth stage (from late August to mid-September). From June to July, the management of conditions such as topdressing, weeding and loosening soil should be carried out in a timely manner.

Grape grafting is not very difficult, but it still needs some experience, so inexperienced friends suggest to buy grafted seedlings directly on the market.
