Celery is rich in dietary fiber, is a green and healthy vegetable, can promote the peristalsis of the human intestinal tract, often eat good for the body. Let's take a look at the requirements of celery for the growing environment. What are the fertilization methods?

What are the requirements for the growing environment of celery?

1. Soil

Celery likes to grow on clayey soil rich in humus and less loss of water and fertilizer. Too sandy soil is easy to cause lack of water and fertilizer, so that celery is very prone to hollow rotten core phenomenon, the soil PH value should be kept at about 6.5, excessive acid and alkali will affect the growth of celery. And to ensure that the nutrients in the soil are comprehensive, the lack of any kind of nutrition will hinder the growth and development of celery. If there is a lack of certain nutrients in the soil, the corresponding fertilizer should be added to the base fertilizer to ensure the normal growth of celery, improve the yield and enhance the quality of celery.

2. Moisture

The root distribution of celery is shallow, the ability of nutrient absorption is not strong, and the demand for water is large. Adequate moisture should be ensured throughout the growth period. Watering should be done in time after sowing to ensure moist soil and promote seed germination and emergence. When celery is in the vegetative growth period, it is necessary to ensure air humidity and soil water content, the lack of water will thicken the thick-walled tissue in the petiole, lead to the increase of fiber and aggravate the hollow phenomenon of celery. Reduce the yield and poor quality. Therefore, in the process of planting, we should do a good job of water management according to soil water content and weather changes.

3. Lighting

Celery has a great demand for light, especially during the period from sowing to germination, if the light is insufficient, the germination speed is very slow, and even stop germinating. And in the seedling stage, we should also ensure sufficient light to promote the growth of celery and ensure the development of celery. The duration and intensity of light are very important for the growth of celery, so it is necessary to do a good job of artificial light supplement in winter. However, in the summer natural light for a long time in the environment, but also appropriate shading to prevent celery bolting. So keeping proper temperature and light is the key to ensure the yield of celery.

4. Temperature

Celery is more suitable to grow in a low temperature environment, the ability to tolerate low temperature is strong, too high temperature will lead to poor development of celery. And celery in different growth periods, the temperature will also have some changes, such as the germination temperature should be maintained at about 16 degrees, not beyond the range of 15-25 degrees. Otherwise, it will affect the germination and reduce the germination rate. To ensure the right temperature, it can sprout in about a week. After planting is the peak growth period of celery, the temperature should not exceed 20 degrees, otherwise the quality of celery is poor, the disease and insect pests are serious, and the yield is greatly affected.

Second, what are the fertilization methods for celery?

1. Due to the long seedling stage of celery, fertile and loose soil should be selected in the seedling bed, and 30kg of rotten organic fertilizer should be applied to every 10 square meters of seedling bed, which should be fully mixed with the soil. It can also be prepared artificially with nutritious soil to raise seedlings, generally with 6 parts of loam and 4 parts of barnyard manure, or 4 parts of peat soil, 3 parts of loam soil and 3 parts of barnyard manure. The purpose of seedling bed fertilization is to promote strong seedlings.

2. Sufficient base fertilizer should be applied before celery planting, combined with barnyard manure per mu, about 40 kg of barnyard manure and 45% compound fertilizer. 50 kg of lime can be applied to acid soil.

3. The topdressing of celery can be carried out in different stages. After planting slow seedlings, the fertilizer for extracting seedlings can be applied once. The amount of fertilizer used is 3-4 kg of nitrogen per mu (equivalent to 6.5-8.7 kg of urea), and applied to water. When the petiole of celery elongates and enters the peak period of leaf growth, fertilizer should be applied many times. Generally, when the plant height is 30 cm, nitrogen is applied 40.5 kg per mu and once again after 10 to 15 days. The times and amount of topdressing for cultivation in summer and autumn can be adjusted appropriately, and each application should be combined with irrigation according to the weather.

4. Because of the easy lack of boron in autumn drought, 0.2%-0.5% borax solution is sprayed on the leaves to prevent petiole roughness and cracking.
