Pomegranate is a very good-looking and delicious fruit, pomegranate pulp as red as agate, sweet and sour, very attractive. But many people find it troublesome to eat pomegranates and have to spit seeds one by one. In recent years, a kind of soft-seed pomegranate on the market is very popular. So, can the seeds of soft seed pomegranate be eaten? What is its planting and management method?

Can the seeds of soft seed pomegranate be eaten?

You can eat it. Soft seed pomegranate as a variety introduced from abroad, the fruit is not only bright red, but also juicy and succulent, rich in nutrition, its seeds are soft and chewable. In addition, it is also on the market earlier than ordinary pomegranate, the general pomegranate ripening time is from September to October, while the soft seed pomegranate ripening time is August to September.

What are the planting and management methods of soft-seed pomegranate?

1. Build a garden

Prepare the land before planting, apply rotten farm manure 5000kg per mu, rake it into pieces and rake flat. The planting holes were dug according to the row spacing of 2.5m × 3m and the product glyph configuration. The length, width and depth of the colonized acupoint were 80cm. Select high-quality strong seedlings with complete roots, put them into planting holes, stretch their roots, water them steadily after planting, and seal the tree plate.

2. Soil management

Planting intercropping low agricultural crops and medicinal herbs, such as medicinal chrysanthemum and peanuts, etc., after the second year, to keep the soil loose and fertile. Combined with weeding and applying organic fertilizer, the content of soil organic matter is high, and it has the properties of fertilizer preservation and air permeability.

3. Fertilization

After the seedlings were planted, when the first topdressing was applied to the new shoots with 15cm, the plants were watered 48 hours after applying urea 100g / 200g. When the second fertilization was about 30cm, the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer was applied to the plant, 300g to 400g, and ditched to 30cm from the main seedling. Extra-root topdressing combined with spraying, spraying 300 times of urea before the middle of July, and spraying 300 times of potassium dihydrogen phosphate after mid-July to promote branch growth and flower formation.

4. Watering

Pomegranate trees have strong drought tolerance. But in the vigorous growth period of summer to keep the soil moist, not too dry and too wet. Flowering and fruit setting period appropriate less watering, large water is easy to cause fruit drop.

5. Shaping and pruning

Carry out single-stem plastic surgery, leaving only one trunk, remove the sprouts below the main branch, retain the meristematic branches on the trunk, open the corners of the branches, and try not to remove them. Remove diseased branches, insect branches, autumn shoots and withered branches. Tree body culture skeleton, primary and secondary clear, uniform distribution, so that the large branches are few and fine, and the branchlets are many and close.

Be careful not to prune with leaves to prevent waste of nutrients; big branches are not too dense to prevent baldness of the inner chamber, but also to prevent reducing yield; big branches bend and extend, slow down outward movement, and prevent linear extension skeleton from being weak; branches do not be cut in rows to prevent hair branches from being too dense; big branches do not overlap up and down to prevent affecting lighting; main and side branches do not go side by side, and the main branches are never divided; sawing branches are as small as possible to prevent cortical tearing.

6. Pest control

First, the warped bark can be scraped off at the end of autumn, the trunk can be painted white, the orchard can be cleaned, the litter and weeds in the orchard can be removed, and the garden can be disinfected once.

Second, the diseased dried fruit and cocoons were removed artificially in winter, the insect bags were buried and burned, the open space in the garden was deeply turned over, and the overwintering pests were eliminated by freezing, sunshine, bird pecking and so on.

Third, combined with winter shearing, cut off the damaged branches and burn them.

Fourth, the grass rope was used to wind several circles at the base of the tree trunk to induce the unearthed larvae to pupate, to check and kill regularly, or to cover the agricultural film within 1 m around the stem to suffocate the overwintering larvae under the film.

The fifth is to make use of the false death of the pests to carry out artificial hunting and kill the trunk borer by injecting fumigant from the injured hole and killing them with mud.

When manual control can not control diseases and insect pests in the garden, chemical control should be taken in time to meet the requirements of pollution-free green production, requiring the use of broad-spectrum pesticides with low toxicity, low residue and high efficiency before fruit coloring. The use of all kinds of pesticides is prohibited after fruit coloring.
