Kaohsiung Agricultural Reform Farm developed a new variety "Kaohsiung No. 2-Spring Peach", which is currently the largest variety of lotus fruit. Chen Silu, an assistant researcher at the Agricultural improvement Farm in Kaohsiung District, said that the fruit of "Kaohsiung No.2-Spring Peach" is full and long in shape, with an average weight of 250g and a maximum of more than 500g. it is the largest variety on the market at present, with a yield period from January to June. The pericarp color is red in winter and spring, and the summer color is like the pink peach color of French dessert Macaron.

Chen Siru said that "Kaohsiung No. 2-Chunzhitao" has an average sugar content of 9 to 10 degrees. It is sweet with fruity aroma, thin skin without slag, fine and juicy taste, and pink and tender appearance, so it is also called "peach lotus mist." for silver peaches who have bad teeth and like to eat lotus mist, it is easy to bite, and it is recommended to slice them after cold storage.

Chen Siru points out that "Kaohsiung No.2-Chunzhi Peach" is cultivated by Indonesian big fruit species (palm lotus fog) and Korean water clover (big round leaf). It inherits the huge fruit shape of Indonesian big fruit species lotus fog, and its fruit color and plant growth potential are similar to those of Han Shuihu. In February this year, it was announced that technology was transferred to the production industry in a non-exclusive way, and authorized the farmers' association in Nanzhou, Pingtung County, to put a small number of trial fruits on the market.

Dai Shunfa points out that Lianwu is a fruit with Taiwan characteristics, and its producing areas are concentrated in Gaoping area. Traditionally cultivated varieties are Nanyang and large fruit lines, which are prone to fruit cracking and poor coloring at high temperature. in order to develop varieties suitable for Taiwan's local climate and consumer preferences, agricultural reform farms continue to research and develop new varieties.
