The Chiayi Agricultural Experimental Branch of the Agricultural Experimental Institute announced today that it has made efforts in the past 24 years. Using "Tainong 19" as the female parent and "Tainong 21" as the male parent, a new pineapple variety "Tainong 23" has been developed. Nongyou is called "mango pineapple" with high sugar / acid ratio, yellow pulp with mango aroma, romantic tropical flavor, sweet and sour taste, not only can adapt to rainy climate, storage and transportation resistance. And it is not easy to produce meat fruit and cracking fruit, so it is the tomorrow star of the domestic and foreign market in the future.

Due to the high temperature and humidity in summer in Taiwan, many pineapple varieties are prone to fruit cracking and fleshy fruit problems during fruit growth, resulting in fruit quality deterioration and loss, and the impact is becoming more and more serious with the global climate change.

Guan Qingshan, an associate researcher of Chiayi Agricultural Test Institute, is an important driver of "Tainong 23". He selected "Tainong 23" pineapple by hybrid method. The rainy environment has little effect on its fruit quality, which can solve the problem of poor fruit quality of "Tainong 17" Jinnong pineapple after rain.

Guan Qingshan said that "Tainong 23" pineapple, with mango aroma, will not fade except in the summer cultivation period, and the sweet and sour is moderate, the flavor is excellent, the fruit is short cylindrical, the peel is orange when ripe, the eye is pleasing, the flesh is yellow or orange, the flesh is dense and the fiber is fine, and the average fruit weight is about 1.4 kg. Without rain, it is easy to have the problem of flesh sound fruit and fruit flavor desalination. And the pulp is still thin, not easy to have a sense of fiber, the average sugar content is 18.2 °, acidity 0.7%, sugar-acid ratio 26.0, rich in special aroma.

The plant of "Tainong 23" pineapple is low, easy to manage, and can be used in the work of machinery province. This variety is easy to produce, autumn and winter fruit, good quality and resistant to storage, which is beneficial to increase the variety diversity of pineapple in domestic and foreign markets, so as to enhance the income of farmers.
