Xianren banana: "Xianren banana" is a bud variety of "Beijiao". In 1919, it was discovered by Lin Chuan, a farmer in the bamboo pit in Taichung. At that time, banana atrophy was prevalent, but the banana did not suffer from the disease. Farmers thought it was a gift from immortals, so it was called "fairy banana" and was planted in large quantities. But perhaps because of the long history of cultivation and continuous reproduction, its disease resistance is no longer obvious.

The appearance of "Xianren banana" is very similar to that of "Beijiao", but the plant of Xianren banana is taller and its leaves are narrower and longer. Like the northern banana, Xianren banana is less resistant to wind because of its taller plants, and the leaf shape ratio is more than 2.6. The bracts of male flowers fall off in summer, but some remain at low temperature in winter, and the phenomenon that bracts fall off after flowering is also one of its characteristics. Xianren banana has a strong adaptability to mountain barren soil, so it is most planted in the central banana garden, and the bananas commonly known as "mountain banana" or "Taichung banana" should belong to this variety. The growth days of Xianren banana are about 15-20 days longer than that of Beijiao. Except for the higher plant, the yield, fruit shape and quality of Xianren banana are better than those of Beijiao, but it is still easy to be infected with Panama disease in this province.

Dwarf banana: dwarf banana belongs to the Dwarf Cavendish family in classification and has a long history of cultivation in Taiwan. The leaves are short and wide, and the leaf shape ratio is 1.8 to 2.2. Most of the bracts of male flowers remain, almost all of them remain in winter, and there are many neutral flowers. The dwarf banana plant is very short, the height is only about 1.5 meters, because its plant is short, so the wind resistance is the strongest. Taiwan is in the typhoon zone, so short-footed bananas are supposed to be cultivated, but because they are prone to atrophy, and many new banana varieties are constantly being planted, their yields are much lower than those of Xianren and Beijiao.

At present, dwarf bananas are only sporadically cultivated in Taiwan. at present, we only know that they are occasionally planted in the fields and roadsides in Tainan or other areas. nowadays, the fruit chamber of dwarf banana is small and sharp, the taste is not as good as "Bei Jiao", and the fruit axis handle is shorter, especially at low temperature in winter. as a result, it is difficult to heading or tilt to make the fruit shape irregular, coupled with its intolerance to storage and transportation, so there is no commercial cultivation in Taiwan. Although dwarf banana is less cultivated in Taiwan, it can still be regarded as an important economic variety in the world.
