The Agriculture and Food Administration estimates that mango production will increase by 17% compared with last year. According to the statistics of the agricultural market trading station, the volume of goods in Taipei's auction market this week has increased by nearly 30% compared with the same period last year. The price has also dropped by about 20%, to 53.6 yuan per kilogram. The Agriculture and Food Administration said that the production of some fruits has been reduced due to natural disasters, and mango is expected to provide alternative options. And mango can also be made into a variety of processed products, although the price is low, but will still maintain a certain level.

According to the statistics of the Council of Agriculture, as of 107, the planting area of improved mangoes (such as Aiwen, Jinhuang and other varieties) in Taiwan has reached more than 13,000 hectares, and the producing areas are concentrated in Tainan, Pingtung, and Kaohsiung counties and cities, of which Tainan City has the largest area of 6775 hectares.

Last year, due to low temperature, water shortage and other factors, the flowering and fruiting of mango in various producing areas were not good. Last year's output was 128,365 metric tons, while this winter's climate with less rain is suitable for mango growth. The total output is estimated to reach 140000 9665 metric tons, an increase of 17% over last year's and 14% higher than the annual output of 130000 1550 metric tons.

Xu Huifei, head of the Agriculture and Food Administration, said that mangoes do increase production, but in addition to being fresh, mangoes can also be made into all kinds of processed products, such as mango ice, dried mangoes, and so on. This year, summer fruits, including litchi and watermelons, will have a substitution effect due to natural disasters, so mangoes can still maintain a certain level of price.

Yao Zhiwang, director of the South Division of the Agriculture and Food Department, said that the overall output of Tainan has returned to normal this year. At present, mangoes in Tainan have been harvested sporadically, and the price still depends on quality and specifications. On the 30th, the average price of Ai Wen mango in Yujing fruit and vegetable market is 44 yuan per kilogram. Japanese exporters have also signed contracts with farmers in producing areas one after another, and it is expected that mangoes in the area will be purchased for domestic and export operations in mid-June. In order to improve fruit quality and increase access for farmers, the Southern District Branch also actively tutored farmers to participate in production and marketing resume verification, so as to comprehensively enhance the safety of agricultural products and increase access and consumer love and trust.

In addition, with regard to the export part, Hu Zhongyi, director of the Agriculture and Food Administration, said that at present, many Japanese traders still want to order mangoes from Taiwan, and even if they increase mango production by so much, they are still snapping up mangoes, and they can even ask them to order mangoes for next year.
