Variety characteristics of Strawberry "Tainong No.1"

The new strawberry variety "Tainong 1" was pollinated by cross pollination between "Perfume" (female parent) and "Taoyuan No. 1" (male parent), and after many years of trial observation and strain selection, the plant shape belongs to large leaf and semi-erect type; the leaf color is light green and the degree of leaf surface blisters is moderate; the leaf edge of the middle leaflet is serrated to crenate. The color of the conical fruit epidermis is dark red, the flesh of the longitudinal section is red, and the core of the fruit is light red. The position of the fruit seed is about the same as the epidermis. The flowering period from early October to mature plant is earlier than that of "Taoyuan 1", and the normal time sequence is about mid-November, and the fruit ripening period is also earlier than "Taoyuan 1", about early December. The fruit of "Tainong No. 1" has a strong aroma and higher average hardness than "Taoyuan No. 1". The average content of soluble solids such as sugars is 8.55 ~ 10.44 °BX and the average acidity is 0.270.36%. It is also the first choice for processing top jams and refined cakes.

Cultivation and Management of Strawberry "Tainong No.1"

In addition to traditional field planting, this variety is also suitable for cultivation in facilities. It can be pollinated by insect pollination such as bees, or pollinated by wind pollination under good ventilation. If poor pollination or excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer during fruit development, the color conversion of some fruit tips will be delayed, and the phenomenon of "green mouth" will occur occasionally; excessive application of potash fertilizer will affect the absorption of calcium fertilizer and trace element boron, resulting in scorch or distortion of new leaf tips and shortening of plants.
