However, the Consumer Culture and Education Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Consumer Foundation) test found that some masks contain heavy metal "lead", volatile organic compounds, but also dissolve the color, and the filtration efficiency of pm2.5 is also insufficient. However, the competent authorities have not set quality standards for the material of masks. Chinese people hang masks on their mouths and noses every day. Although they are insulated from the invasion of covid-19, who will help guard the safety concerns of the masks themselves?.

Consumer Foundation: if the mask exceeds 3 yuan, the price is on the high side.

In December of 2020, the Consumer Foundation purchased 20 mask samples from shopping masks, drugstores and e-commerce platforms in Taipei and New Taipei, of which 19 were medical masks and 1 was disposable dust masks. According to the investigation, the labels of the masks are in line with the regulations, but the price is slightly higher.

The Consumer Foundation pointed out that the production cost of the mask is between 1.3 and 1.8 yuan, and it will be sold after deducting the necessary cost of management and sales.
