In autumn, the temperature drops, the weather gets cooler in the morning and evening, the sunshine time is getting shorter, and the physiological activities of flowers change from prosperous period to gentle period or hibernating period. During this period, how to take good care of the potted flowers at home?

In order to prevent potted flowers from getting cold, potted flowers need to be moved indoors. The time for potted flowers to enter the house should be different according to different flowers. Warm flowers such as Fusang, poinsettia, jasmine, tortoise back bamboo and begonia should be moved into the room when the temperature is about 10 ℃. Hanging orchids, asparagus, Liriodendron mandshurica and rubber trees should be moved indoors when the temperature is as low as 5 ℃. Slightly hardy flowers, such as kumquat and plum blossoms, can enter the house later. Most flowers should enter the house in front of Frosts Descent.

Potted flowers should pay attention to ventilation after entering the room, and the doors and windows can be opened for ventilation and heat dissipation when the temperature is high at noon. The placement of potted flowers after entering the house is also fastidious. Flowers such as Jiuli incense, Fusang, jasmine, rhododendron, cyclamen, poinsettia, magnolia and crab claw orchid should be placed in a sunny place to fully receive light, so that leaves can better carry out photosynthesis and store nutrients to safely spend the winter.

If you not only like growing flowers, but also want to experience the fun of your own reproduction, you need to be ready in the fall. Autumn is the season when herbaceous flower seeds mature, so the harvest and storage of herbaceous flower seeds should be done in time. When collecting seeds, the mother plant with strong growth and good flower color and shape should be selected, dried and wrapped, and placed in an environment of ventilation, drying and low temperature (0 ℃-4 ℃). Some flowers, such as canna, dahlia, Xiaoli, Hosta, etc., can cut off the aboveground stems and leaves before Frosts Descent, dig out the roots, remove the persistent soil, and store them in the basin for one or two days, leaving the old roots to protect the seeds. There are also some flowering plants, such as gourd, towel gourd, grass jasmine and so on, whose seeds have matured in autumn, so seeds should be collected and preserved for sowing in the coming year. For herbaceous flowers such as pansy, melon-leaf chrysanthemum and hollyhock, the best sowing time is from September to the first ten days of October. After sowing, attention should be paid to spraying water, keeping moist, and thinning seedlings in time after emergence. Rose, jasmine, peony, Milan, peony, honeysuckle, magnolia, cinnamon and other flowers cutting, ramet, striping, grafting, etc., also from September to October.

As the weather turns cool and the sunshine weakens, the growth of potted flowers slows down. Except for a few flowers that bloom before and after spring, such as crab claw orchid, camellia, spring welcome, rhododendron, cyclamen, and so on, most flowers should control watering from the middle of September and stop fertilizing, so as to prevent the flood from rotting roots and branches and leaves to grow excessively, thus affecting overwintering. The watering of different flowers and plants is also different. for wax plum, camellias and plum blossoms that bloom in winter and early spring, watering should be controlled and more water should be sprayed to facilitate the formation of their buds. Rubber trees, Brazilian wood, rich trees, camellias and tea plums placed in the living room should also be controlled to reduce watering times and water, so as to promote the Lignification of new shoots of woody plants, so as to pass the winter safely. Potted foliage plants such as tortoise back bamboo, spring feather, plantain, green pineapple and taro should be sprayed mainly and watered as a supplement, so that the basin soil is not dry. Flowers and plants such as Cymbidium, calla lilies, Cymbidium and pineapple can be sprayed with a mixture of 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 0.1% urea. Milan, Zhulan, jasmine, etc., can also be applied a thin phosphate and potassium fertilizer, in order to facilitate its smooth winter. For most foliage plants, the application of nitrogen fertilizer should be stopped and some low concentration potassium fertilizer should be applied properly to increase the cold resistance of flowers.

When the temperature is about 20 ℃ after autumn, most flowers are easy to sprout more twigs. Except for retaining some twigs according to the need, the rest of the twigs should be cut off in time to reduce unnecessary nutrient consumption. Move into the indoor bonsai, potted flowers, to remove withered branches, disease and insect branches, too dense branches, thin branches. Strength shearing can be carried out on the overgrown branches (those that grow too vigorously in that year). Bonsai, which has been modeled for 1-2 years, can be removed or rebound after it is untied, so as to prevent the branch cambium from being strangled in a fixed position for a long time, resulting in the death of branches and leaves. For other flowers, the retained twigs should also be picked in time. Chrysanthemum, dahlia, jasmine, rose and other flowers, when the buds grow to a certain size, except for retaining a well-growing bud at the top, the rest of the lateral buds should be removed.

Autumn is also the last spawning period for all kinds of flower and tree pests, and it is a good time to control diseases and insect pests. We can carry out pest control before potted flowers enter the house. One is to capture by hand, the other is to rinse with water. If urea and washing powder are sprayed with water, the control effect is better. Common diseases include leaf spot, stem rot, etc., should be removed before entering the house, do not let it continue to harm potted flowers after entering the house.
