Do the scorched tips of orchid leaves need to be cut off?
Many potted friends like to raise orchids at home, but many potted friends find that this kind of plant is more likely to have scorched leaves. When the original oil-green leaves appear scorched tip, it is bound to reduce the ornamental nature of potted plants. So, Jack.
The scorched tip of orchid leaves may be caused by normal physiological metabolism or pathological. However, whether it is the normal metabolism or the role of the case, it is usually necessary to cut off the focal point in time, otherwise it may continue to spread, or at least affect the appearance.
However, pruning also requires skills. If it is not trimmed properly, it will not only reduce the ornamental quality of plants, but may even cause new adverse symptoms. For pruning, there are usually three ways:
1. Cut the focal point horizontally with scissors, that is, keep the scissors perpendicular to the blade and cut off the focal tip. Keep the formed wound perpendicular to the leaf, and this pruning is best. This method is usually called straight shearing.
2. Use a shear to trim the edge of the blade below the focal point at a certain angle, usually at an angle of 45 degrees, which is usually called a side shear. The result of this pruning is that the wound is wider, but it can make the leaves more beautiful.
3. Also according to a certain angle, trim the edge of the blade below the focal point, and both edges of the blade should be trimmed according to this method, so that the two wounds are symmetrical. But the wound caused by this pruning is larger, but the trimmed leaves are more beautiful.
However, if there is still a serious focal tip of the leaf after pruning, it is recommended that the whole leaf with focal tip be cut off along the base. After pruning, the potted plant will be placed in a cool and ventilated place for careful maintenance. When the plant grows new leaves, the potted plant will appear greenish and regular.
