Yesterday (10/28) MOEA conducted an environmental review of the pilot zone for fisheries and electricity symbiosis, and approved the announcement on the designation of the pilot zone totaling 2626 hectares in Chiayi County and Tainan City. However, private groups still have many doubts about the co-existence of fishing and electricity, believing that the Executive Yuan is pushing hard under pressure from photovoltaic manufacturers. The Ministry of Economy promised to supplement the contents of the ecological inspection legal system and standardization contract within one month after the announcement.
Li Junli, deputy director of the Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, said that yesterday's meeting was only a review and approval. The official announcement time will be jointly issued by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Agricultural Committee, but the exact time has not yet been confirmed. Due to the insistence of private units, the Ministry of Economy also promised to set a buffer period of one month to complete relevant supporting measures.

Li Chunli stressed that Chiayi County and Tainan City have been identified by ecological experts and disputed areas have been ruled out. The area of Chiayi County was announced to be 876 hectares, and the Tainan part was originally planned to be 1776 hectares. After identifying 26 hectares of fish farms in the northwest of Hsueh Chia District as a hot spot for wetlands and waterbirds adjacent to Hsueh Chia District, the announced area was reduced to 1750 hectares.
