Phalaenopsis is a very beautiful flowering plant in the orchid family, not only a wide variety, but also very rich in flowers and colors, which is very suitable for flower viewing. But it belongs to Orchidaceae after all, and its root system is fleshy and has the characteristic of being afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, usually we should do a good job of watering and humidity management.

For common orchid varieties, ramet and tissue culture are generally adopted to propagate. So, Jack? In fact, although Phalaenopsis is a species of the genus Phalaenopsis in Orchidaceae, it is different from ordinary orchids. It can usually propagate by cutting.

Under normal circumstances, we can also cut flower branches to propagate. You can even prune the flowers after appreciating the flowers, cut off the flower branches and select the sturdy branches for cutting and propagation. However, it is required to have bud points on the flower branches, keep 1-2 leaves at the same time, and then follow the normal cutting process.

Not only that, Phalaenopsis can not only cut flower branches for cutting propagation, but also cut foil, flower root, and even air root, which can be used for cutting propagation. As long as the operation method is proper and the growth environment is suitable, it is often easier to survive and obtain potted seedlings.

The flower branches of Phalaenopsis are usually called pedicels, which can not only be cut off after flowering to cultivate potted seedlings, but also can be propagated on the pedicels without cutting, with a very high survival rate. And the operation method is also relatively simple.

In operation, we only need to find the highest flower branch above the plant, then cut off the flower, cut off the bracts between the first and third nodes at the end of the pedicel with a blade to expose the bud, and then apply a little plant growth hormone such as indole butyric acid.

Usually put the plant in the semi-shade, control the temperature between 25 °C-28 °C, and then water normally. Generally, it takes 2-weeks to grow tender leaves on the bud point, and about 3 months to make it grow into seedlings, then cut it out and transplant it into a pot.

Therefore, the flower branches of Phalaenopsis can be cut off as cuttings for branch propagation, which is very easy to survive; at the same time, we can also directly select a flower branch with good growth in the upper part of the plant to promote bud propagation without cutting the flower branches. The reproductive efficiency of these two methods is very high, so it is recommended that you master and learn to use it.
