Amorphophallus cuspidata and Dishui Guanyin are both evergreen plants, which are very suitable for indoor foliage pot cultivation. Because the two kinds of plants look alike, many friends mistakenly think that they are the same kind of plant. In fact, the sharp-tailed taro and Dishui Guanyin are not the same plant, and there is often an essential difference between them. As long as we observe and compare them carefully, we can well distinguish them. So, what is the difference between sharp-tailed taro and dripping Guanyin?

Although the sharp-tailed taro and Dishui Guanyin are not the same plant, these two plants belong to the Araceae and belong to different species of the same family and genus. The most obvious difference between the two is that the plant shape of the sharp-tailed taro is often relatively short, the rhizome is thick and short, and the fleshy stem can reach 1 meter, while the aboveground stem of dripping Guanyin tends to grow very tall and sturdy, some as high as 2-3 meters, and the height of the whole plant can even reach 5 meters.

In addition to the difference between roots and stems, the florescence of Amorphophallus cuspidata and Dishui Guanyin are also different. The flowering period of the pointed-tailed taro is usually in May, while the dripping Guanyin can bloom almost all the year round, but its shade tolerance is often worse than that of the pointed-tailed taro. If it is too shady, Dishui Guanyin is apt to fail to blossom. On the other hand, the conditions required for dripping Guanyin to bloom are often more stringent than those of taro.

Although the leaves of the sharp-tailed taro and Dishui Guanyin remain green all the year round and are somewhat similar in appearance, they can be distinguished if you look at them carefully. The leaves of the pointed-tailed taro are often smaller than those of dripping Guanyin, the tails of the leaves are also more pointed, and the leaves are mostly dark green, while the leaves of dripping Guanyin look much wider, and the leaves are mostly tender green, which is very eye-catching. Put the two potted plants together to compare, the difference is still very obvious.

Of course, in addition to the obvious characteristics of the above aspects can distinguish the two, we can also distinguish from many other aspects, such as different growth habits, and even great differences in some aspects. Of course, as long as we pay more attention to it, we can easily distinguish it from the plant shape, leaf shape, flowering and other aspects. And the most direct way is to put the pot plants under the normal growth of the two together to make a comparison.
