Flowers and plants will accumulate dust like other items when they are put for a long time. Many flower friends ask whether the dust on the leaves of flowers should be cleaned up, and whether cleaning will kill the flowers.

The answer is cleaning. There are two reasons for this:

One is potted plants, especially those with wide foliage, which are always easy to absorb dust during placement. On the one hand, dust will block the stomata on the leaves, so that plants cannot absorb water and oxygen from the air or evaporate excess water from the body to the outside world.

Second, dust will also make potted plants look gray and dirty, and after spraying water, they will be stained, which is very unattractive.

Flower plant leaves cleaning precautions

1. Time to clean leaves

The time for cleaning leaves is in the morning, so that the leaves have sufficient drying time before the arrival of night, so as to avoid the lack of sunlight and the temperature drop at night, so that the leaves are in a humid environment.

2. Method of cleaning blades

Water spray method: the use of water spray impact will be the dust on the blade washed away.

Wipe method: with a sponge or cotton cloth dipped in water repeatedly gently wipe the dust and sludge on the leaves clean.

Brush method: brush the dust on the leaves with a soft brush

Note: The first two methods are not suitable for cacti, meaty and hairy plants. Once the leaves are wet, it is difficult to evaporate, even if the water is absorbed by dry cloth, there is no guarantee that they will dry in a certain time. And some flower buds that are afraid of water, such as flower buds of gerbera leaf clusters and pseudobulbs of Clivia leaf clusters, should not be soaked in water, especially in germination and bud pregnancy, which will affect the development of flowers.

Do not spray water directly on flowers. Flowers are easy to rot and wither when they meet water, and they will also cause low fertilization and affect flowering. Pomegranates, crabapple, fuchsia and crape myrtle and other potted flowers spray water on the leaves will cause excessive growth of branches and leaves, recommended to use the latter two cleaning methods.
