"sow triad" refers to sow endometritis, mastitis, prenatal and postpartum high fever. "sow triad disease" is the main reason for the high elimination rate of sows, and it is also a common disease of sows.

1. Endometritis in sows:

Sow endometritis is a common disease in the reproductive system of sows, which often results in repeated infertility in sows, an increase in the elimination rate of sows and heavy losses in pig farms.

Sow endometritis is generally due to abortion, dystocia, not strict midwifery disinfection in sows, incomplete postpartum anti-inflammation, resulting in a large number of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and streptococcus in the uterus and discharge of a large number of milky white and yellow-white secretions. resulting in high estrus rate of sows and failure of mating.

Endometritis in reserve pigs and parturient sows is mostly caused by the opening of the uterine orifice of sows when they are in estrus. At this stage, the environment is moist, dirty, disinfected not thoroughly, and bacteria enter the uterus along with the birth canal, causing inflammation.

Non-standard mating of parturient sows, exogenous infection caused by boars, and damage to the birth canal or uterine mucosa caused by artificial insemination.

The decrease of body resistance of parturient sows during delivery, dystocia and lactation, coupled with poor sanitary condition of delivery bed, lax disinfection during midwifery, injury of birth canal, incomplete midwifery, retention of placenta, etc., thus promote the occurrence of endometritis in sows.

Manifestations of endometritis:

Sows often discharge thick secretions when lying down, and yellow purulent secretions are often attached to the vulva and tail root. Some sows often do not discharge secretions after weaning, and their feeding, body temperature and action are all normal. During estrus, mating (especially artificial insemination) or after mating, a large amount of yellow or grayish-white viscous pus is discharged.

Treatment:

Rinse the uterus with 0.1% potassium permanganate or normal saline 500ml, give oxytocin 30 minutes later, remove the dirt in the uterus, and then rinse the uterus with 100ml normal saline + 4 million units of penicillin 3muri 4 + houttuynia cordata 4, once a day for 3 days.

At the same time, Houttuynia cordata + cephalosporin was injected intramuscularly in Qinggong, or Houttuynia cordata + lincomycin was used for three days.
