How to prune peony flowers in autumn
1. Cut flowers
After ushering in autumn, the peony flowers bloom to the end, will be completely withered. After the flowers have withered, we should timely use sterilized scissors to cut off the pedicels and withered leaves on the branches, and cut off the top bud points of the flower branches to inhibit the growth of the flower branches, so as to promote the flower branches to grow more flower buds from the bottom in the coming year.
2. Pruning
After the flowering period, we should carry out a pruning work to cut off all the nutrient-wasting branches on the peony plant, such as overgrown branches, weak branches, diseased branches and so on, and then clean and prune the overlapping branches, cross branches, Pang mixed branches and other branches that are not conducive to modeling, so as to make the plant type transparent and grow well.
3. Pick the bud
After pruning the useless overlapping branches and long branches, we should look for the bud points growing inward on the branches, cut off these inward bud points, and keep the bud points growing outward, so as to promote the peony flowers to grow outward and form a luxuriant crown, which should be disinfected in time after pruning.
4. Clean up the sprouting
After these pruning work, we can slightly clean up the basin soil, slightly remove the soil from the roots, look for sprouting tillers on the stems close to the roots, and clean up these native bud spots that grow branches, so as to save nutrients for the peony. After cleaning up, we should disinfect it in time and dry it a little bit and replant it.
