The incidence of flatulence in pigs is very low, so it is often ignored by pig farms. In fact, although this disease is rare in clinic, its consequences are very serious and pig farms should pay attention to it. So what are the reasons for pig flatulence? How to prevent and cure it?

Cause of disease

1. Improper feeding

Under the environment of high temperature and humidity in summer, the feed is easy to mildew. Pigs eating moldy feed will promote Clostridium welchii to reproduce rapidly in the intestines, produce a large number of toxic and harmful gases, cause flatulence, oppress the internal organs at the same time, lead to blood circulation disorder, and eventually suffocate to death due to insufficient oxygen supply to the brain.

Excessive feed feeding will weaken digestive function, resulting in a large amount of gas in the intestines and stomach can not be excreted, but also cause flatulence.

two。 Constipation

The insufficient supply of green and succulent feed or the reduction of exercise in pigs leads to constipation and flatulence caused by constipation due to the occurrence of febrile diseases.

Sows are more likely to cause flatulence due to constipation than other pigs, but most pigs can relieve flatulence after defecation.

3. Viral pathogenic flatulence

The virus that causes flatulence in pigs is mainly transmissible gastroenteritis virus. Pigs of different ages may be infected with this disease. Suckling piglets have high morbidity and mortality. The younger the age, the shorter the course of disease and the higher the mortality.

The disease is contagious and can be transmitted by infected pigs. It is local and periodic, and it also has obvious seasonality, which mainly occurs in winter and spring.

Prevention and treatment of flatulence in pigs

I. strengthening prevention

First of all, we should adjust the feeding and management model to minimize stress stimulation and avoid adverse stress reactions. The daily feed of pigs should pay attention to the appropriate particle size, otherwise it will cause digestive system problems of pigs.

In addition, we can also add fiber-rich green feed to accelerate gastrointestinal peristalsis in pigs to avoid excessive reproduction of anaerobes.

Secondly, every year in late autumn or early spring or during the period with more temperature fluctuations, an appropriate amount of baking soda can be added to its diet and used continuously for 7 days to effectively prevent diseases caused by weather changes.

In addition, pigs should be provided with digestible feed, otherwise it will cause digestive difficulties for pigs.

Second, symptomatic treatment

In the early stage of flatulence, tylosin and compound vitamin B can be injected intramuscularly, and 50 ml of vegetable oil can be used for treatment.

Sodium sulfate solution can also be injected to inhibit the fermentation of harmful gases in the gastrointestinal tract. At the same time, increasing the amount of exercise in sick pigs can promote the rapid excretion of gas in the gastrointestinal tract.

The incidence of flatulence in pigs is low, but the mortality rate is high. Pig farms should pay attention to prevention and careful observation in order to detect and treat them early.
