Fertilization method of Michelia mollissima in pot culture
The smiling flower can also be called banana flower, mountain festival seed, smiling plum, burning hop and so on. It gets its name because its flowers are half-opened and drooping in a shy shape, seemingly smiling without a smile. It originally grew in South China. It is green and fragrant all the year round. It can be planted in gardens and potted plants. It is a kind of excellent fragrant ornamental flowers and trees.
Michelia mandshurica is an evergreen shrub of Magnoliaceae, which is not fully unfolded when it blossoms, so it is named Michelia. Michelia can be planted in the ground, it is also suitable to watch potted plants, flowering season, strong fragrance, deeply loved by people, is an excellent indoor cultivation of fragrant flower varieties.
Michelia likes fertilizer, but if base fertilizer has been applied in the basin soil, it is not suitable to apply too much fertilizer during the growth period. Generally, thin liquid fertilizer can be applied from the beginning of May, and retting fertilizer such as rotten cake fertilizer, bone meal, chicken and duck manure and fish belly intestine should be applied with water, once every 10-15 days. July-August is the period of flower bud formation, so it is appropriate to apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Fertilizer will be stopped after October.
In addition to applying sufficient base when potting, Michelia should pay attention to the application of thin fertilizer frequently, and thin cake fertilizer can be applied every 7-10 days. Fertilizer is required to be fully mature. In order to promote the thick green leaf color, 1:10 alum fertilizer water should be applied every 10 days or so; alum fertilizer water and cake fertilizer water can be used alternately. Pregnant bud period should be appropriate to apply some more phosphate fertilizer, potash fertilizer, in this way, it is beneficial to Michelle flowers and colors.
In case of continuous overcast and rainy days in the border areas during the growing season, 15-20 grams of fully rotten dry cake fertilizer can be applied on the basin. The general principles of fertilization are: vigorous growth in spring and summer, but more fertilization, slow growth in autumn, less fertilization; winter dormancy or semi-dormancy, should stop fertilization.
Can be carried out once every 1-2 years, as far as possible before spring leaf germination, after flowering or autumn. When changing the basin, remove some of the old soil, replace it with fertile and loose soil, cut off the weak branches and overgrown roots, and replenish the base fertilizer.
Michelia flowers like fertilizer, mostly use rotten cake fertilizer, bone meal, chicken and duck manure and fish belly intestines and other retting fertilizer mixed with water, apply fertilizer every 15 days in the growing season (April-September), and stop fertilization after flowering and October. If you find that the leaf color is not bright and thick green, you can apply fertilizer and water for once.
