Succulent Tia leaves are green, leaf edges are mostly red, and in the case of sufficient light, red will gradually spread to the center of the leaves, such as fireworks, as a pot ornamental, very beautiful. However, sometimes in the process of maintenance and management, we will occasionally find some red dots on the leaves. What's going on?

In the normal maintenance and management of potted succulent plants, the leaves are mostly green, and it is also a normal phenomenon if a small number of small red dots are scattered on the leaves. People usually call it blood spots, but succulent plants have bleeding spots, which is often a normal manifestation in the process of growth. The bleeding spots of succulent plants like Tia are mainly caused by improper lighting.

Although these little red dots will gradually disappear in the process of conservation and management, people hope that they can continue to exist, because potted people who like raising meat usually pursue the discoloration effect of plants, and some people even specially select some varieties that can bleed points for potted plants. Even Tia, a succulent plant, usually needs both red and green leaves to be more ornamental.

In order to make Tia bleed, we mainly achieve it from two aspects: one is to increase the light, and the other is to adjust the temperature. But when unfamiliar people see sporadic blood spots on Tia's leaves, they often think that the plant is sick. In fact, this is caused by the difference in light and temperature, and it is a natural growth phenomenon, so there is no need to worry.

In order to make succulent green and red appear more prominent and more ornamental, in the daily maintenance and management work, we mainly improve or adjust from the following two aspects:

First, improve the lighting

In order to make Tia grow more red blood spots with larger area and brighter colors, and improve the viewing as a whole, we can appropriately improve the lighting conditions to achieve. If it is not maintained in the hot summer sun environment, it can usually be achieved by increasing the light time and light area.

By providing more light, especially in autumn and winter, Tia's green leaves turn bright red from the edge until they spread to the entire leaf. It can be seen that light plays a very important role in the growth of succulent Tia, especially the effect on leaf color.

Second, adjust the temperature

In addition to improving the lighting, we can also adjust the temperature to increase the more ornamental red on the leaves. When the temperature of Tia's growing environment dropped to 23 °C, the edge of the leaf began to change from green to red, and with the gradual decrease of temperature, not only the red on the edge of the leaf would gradually spread to the center of the leaf, but also more bright red until it covered the whole leaf, making the succulent plant show a fiery red.

Relatively speaking, the lower the temperature, the faster the leaf color of Tia changes from green to red, and the color is more bright, which is also what many potted friends need to achieve, because bright red plants have more ornamental value. However, the temperature in Tia's growing environment should not be too low and usually needs to be kept above 5 ℃. The optimum growth temperature for leaf discoloration is usually between 15 °C and 20 °C.

Thus it can be seen that in order to improve the ornamental value of potted succulent Tia, it is mainly achieved by changing its leaf color, that is, from clear green to bright red. The transformation of leaf color is mainly achieved by improving the lighting conditions and adjusting the ambient temperature.
