The rot of lotus is not caused by a temporary illness, but by long-term latent fungi overwintering in the soil. Fungi lurk in lotus root and diseased soil, and when the temperature rises in spring, it erodes the plant.

There are differences in disease among varieties, the disease with deeper roots is lighter, but the disease will be aggravated by continuous rain and lack of sunshine.
