(1) the temperature is too high or too low to water.

The temperature is high in summer, which is higher from 12:00 to 2: 3 p.m., when watering will make the temperature of the basin soil drop suddenly, resulting in a decrease in the water absorption capacity of the roots, resulting in the abnormal supply of water in the body needed for leaf cooling, resulting in "physiological drought" and wilting in severe cases.

The temperature is low in winter, especially when the temperature is lower than 10 ℃, the water absorption of the plant weakens obviously, and it is basically in the state of semi-dormancy. If a large amount of water is watered in this way, the plant will not only be unable to absorb, but also make the basin soil too wet for a long time, resulting in rotten roots. Therefore, watering should generally be done before 9: 00 a.m. or after 5: 00 p.m. In summer and above 10 ℃ in winter. Less watering should be done when it is less than 10 ℃.

(2) the water temperature should be similar to the soil temperature.

The difference between water temperature and soil temperature should not be too large. Especially in winter, in order to avoid "catching cold" caused by too large temperature difference, tap water or well water should never be used directly to water flowers. The cold water can be stored indoors for 1-2 days to precipitate or evaporate the harmful substances in the water on the one hand and leave enough time for the cold water to heat up on the other hand.

(3) to deal with the water quality well.

The gentleman orchid uses water, the city is mostly tap water, and the countryside is mostly well water. Urban tap water is often disinfected and contains chlorine, which is harmful to the plants of Cymbidium. Groundwater such as well water is hard and contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Long-term use will make the soil alkali and solidify. Therefore, the water must be stored for 1-2 days, commonly known as "trapped water", and if necessary, a small amount of acidic substances such as ferrous sulfate and oxalic acid should be added to neutralize the water quality.

(4) fixed watering cycle is not advisable.

Watering the orchid should be determined according to various factors such as season, climatic conditions, different growth periods, plant health, soil structure, basin quality and size.

(5) careful use of domestic wastewater

Domestic wastewater includes laundry water, dishwashing water, lavage water, face washing water, tea water, rice washing water and so on. In order to save water, some people often use domestic waste water to water flowers. Some domestic water contains detergents and some may contain pesticides, which is harmful to gentleman orchids. Amoy rice water and tea water are easy to attract small flying insects, and even produce a bad smell. Therefore, the use of domestic wastewater to water flowers must be cautious.
