As we all know, the quality of potted soil has a great impact on the growth of flowers and plants, which can not only affect their growth and flowering, but also affect their survival. Anyone who grows flowers and plants in pots hopes to make them blossom and flourish, and potted soil is the most basic guarantee. For the vast majority of flowers and plants, the basin soil is often required to be loose, fertile and breathable, so what about?

In order to keep the basin soil loose and fertile and breathable all the time, we generally have to strictly select the matrix material when mixing the soil. However, the same plant material is generally difficult to meet the requirements of loose, fertile and breathable at the same time, so in order to meet the standards of these three aspects, we usually need to prepare mixed soil. For example, garden soil, perlite, vermiculite, pine needle soil, sawdust, rotten leaf soil, peat soil, cinder, river sand and so on, are commonly used soil raw materials.

And if these raw materials are prepared in different proportions, the effects are not the same, because the degree of looseness, fertility and breathability is different. And with the different time of use and the different management of water and fertilizer, the use effect of basin soil prepared according to different ratio is also different. Therefore, when we prepare basin soil for flowers and plants, we should consider the proportion of raw materials according to the different growth habits of plants.

But even then, the fixed pot soil is not suitable for long-term cultivation of flowers and plants, because the longer it takes to grow flowers and plants, the nutrients and soil structure in the pot soil will gradually change. It can be said that the longer the basin soil is raised, the more loose, fertile and breathable the effect will be. Because the plant will continue to consume nutrients in the basin soil in the process of growth, and regular watering and fertilization will also gradually change the soil quality.

Therefore, although we may have prepared the basin soil to meet the requirements of loose, fertile and breathable soil in advance, the corresponding disposal measures should be taken in time to solve the problem of basin soil hardening and lack of nutrients after potted flowers and plants have been cultivated for a long time. Let it restore its loose, fertile, breathable function and characteristics. The relatively simple method is to loosen the soil regularly, but the effect of this method is limited, and it is easy to damage the root system. The better method is to turn the basin and change the soil regularly, and it can also be used to trim the root, which is very beneficial to the growth of the plant in the later stage.

If there is no time to turn the basin to change the soil, it is generally not recommended to do so. After all, often turning the basin and changing the soil will also cause more damage to the plant, and even increase the failure of slow seedling service, resulting in the risk of plant death. So, in order to keep the potted soil loose, fertile and breathable, we can bury some organic matter such as peanut shells and bean cake dregs in the basin, which works very well.

Of course, we also need to pay attention to it in the process of maintenance and management. Because we have prepared high quality soil such as loose, fertile and permeable soil in advance, and in order to avoid or delay the consolidation of basin soil and affect the infiltration of water and fertilizer and the looseness and permeability of soil, we should be careful in daily management, especially in the application of water and fertilizer. Generally, there are certain requirements for water quality and fertilizer, try not to use hard water and chemical fertilizer to grow flowers, otherwise it is easy to accelerate the hardening of potted soil, thus change the soil quality, reduce looseness, fertility and permeability, and then affect the normal growth of plants.
