Baolian lantern flowers are easier to raise in the south, and attention should be paid to keeping warm in the north. This kind of plant likes the warm and humid climate, has higher requirements for light, can not be exposed to strong light, but also needs enough scattered light, so it must be placed in a bright place. The soil is loose and fertile and should have good drainage. Its cold resistance is poor, not less than 12 ℃ in winter, otherwise it will be frostbitten.

How to raise the lanterns of Baolian?

1. Baolian Lantern likes slightly acidic soil which is rich in humus, loose and well drained. Coarse peat can be mixed with the soil to make it grow better. Changing the basin should be carried out every spring, adding new soil appropriately and keeping the soil moist.

2. Baolian lantern is suitable to grow in a semi-shady environment with high temperature, humidity and scattered light, which can not let the sun shine directly in summer and needs to be covered with sunshade net, while sufficient light is needed in early spring and winter. The best growth temperature should be kept at 19 ℃ 21 ℃, no less than 16 mol in winter, and the humidity should always be kept at 80%.

3. Baolian Lantern needs to keep the basin soil moist during the growing period, which can neither be dry nor waterlogged. When the temperature is lower than 20 ℃, the surface layer of the substrate is dried and then watered. Note that when Baolian lantern is in florescence, it should not be watered frequently, which will lead to falling flowers and shorten the flowering period. In addition to normal watering in summer, water should be sprayed frequently to the plant and its surroundings to moisturize, and dust can be washed away from the leaf area.

4. When Baolian lantern is in bloom, the humidity should not be too high. When the color of the bud changes, move it to a place with a slightly higher temperature to prevent the bud from falling. Its natural flowering period is from February to June, and it can blossom all the year round if it is maintained in a greenhouse. Baolian Lantern applies more nitrogen fertilizer in spring, more potash fertilizer in summer, adding fertilizer once a week, and the proportion of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be balanced during the growing period.

5. When diseases such as leaf spot and stem rot occur in Baolian lantern, 1000 times of methyl topiramate wettable powder is sprayed. Whitefly, shell insects and other pests are sprayed with 1000 times of 50% dichlorvos EC.

Cutting method is often used in the propagation of Baolian lantern, and sowing is also feasible. Cuttings are generally carried out from June to July and September to October every year. 15-18cm of young shoots should be cut and the upper two leaves should be retained. The cuttings should be cut in the peat substrate at a temperature of about 25 ℃. The cuttings can take root in 25 days and be transplanted into the basin in 40 days. After the seeds of Baolian Lantern mature in August, they can be collected and sown, or they can be planted in the spring of next year, but pay attention to preservation.
