Many potted friends like potted cultivation of sweet-scented osmanthus, because sweet-scented osmanthus is not only one of the top ten traditional flowers in China, but also its flowers are more fragrant. As a potted plant, it has high ornamental value. However, if we plant sweet-scented osmanthus in pots, we must first provide them with hardware protection, that is, the material basis for their growth, including potted soil and flowerpots.

In the previous article, the editor shared what kind of soil and flowerpots are suitable for potted sweet-scented osmanthus. However, for potted flowers and plants, the planting depth also has an important impact on their growth. However, if it is deeply planted, it is often necessary to use a deep basin; for shallow planting, a shallow basin is usually used.

As for whether it is better to use a deep basin or a shallow basin, it should be determined not only according to the size of the plant, but also according to the developed degree of its root system. Usually, the root system of sweet-scented osmanthus is more developed, but because the plant size is different, so the flowerpot we choose should also correspond to it. Generally use deep basin or shallow basin, often can grow sweet-scented osmanthus.

For the larger sweet-scented osmanthus, its root system is more developed, generally using a deep basin for deep planting; for the smaller sweet-scented osmanthus, because its root system is often not particularly developed, so we can consider using shallow pot planting. However, whether the deep basin or the shallow basin is used, in principle, the root system is required to stretch freely in the basin and will not be restrained because of the size of the space.

Moreover, for large sweet-scented osmanthus trees, the use of deep pot and deep planting can not only obtain more spatially distributed roots, but also get more nutrients from the basin to promote growth, so as to avoid affecting the root distribution and absorption capacity of large seedlings planted in small pots. For small sweet-scented osmanthus trees, the use of shallow pot planting is often more reasonable, which is not only more conducive to root ventilation and growth, but also the water in the basin is easy to dry, so as to avoid the small plants using large pots, which makes it difficult to consume water in the basin and cause stagnant water to rot roots.

Of course, in the size and depth of the flowerpot, we need to choose according to the plant shape, but the texture of the flowerpot will also affect the growth of the plant to a great extent. In general, we choose tile pots with better permeability to plant, so that when overwatering, we can ensure that the excess water can seep away, and at the same time, we can also better let the roots exchange air and avoid suffocation.

Therefore, we can not simply think that potted sweet-scented osmanthus is better with deep pot or shallow pot, but should consider using pot according to the size of the plant. The selection of pots requires appropriate size, depth and permeability, so as to ensure that the normal growth of plants will not be affected by improper selection of flowerpots or improper deep or shallow planting.
