Is the dahlia just sprouting in winter?
Dahlia is a kind of flowers and plants with rich colors and brilliant flowers. at the same time, the flowers are also huge, and they can blossom twice a year, so potted friends who are familiar with this kind of flowers like it. But dahlias are not hardy. After entering winter, the aboveground parts will die, and the underground bulbs will gradually dormant.
The growth of dormant dahlia is very slow, after all, its metabolic process is also very slow, basically in a state of stagnant growth, which is mainly affected by low temperature. However, if we can provide it with a suitable growth environment in winter, especially if the temperature and humidity are guaranteed, then its bulbs may sprout ahead of time.
Since Dahlia is a flowering plant with poor cold tolerance, the new buds germinated in winter are naturally not freeze-resistant. The emergence of new buds occurs only when the temperature and humidity conditions are guaranteed, so if you want to keep the new buds from freezing to death, it is generally necessary to provide them with normal temperature protection. If it is planted in winter, we can put it in a greenhouse, which can speed up its metabolism and advance budding and flowering.
But if we just leave it indoors in winter, the plant will not be frostbitten at most, but it is also difficult for it to sprout smoothly. Even if it is lucky enough to sprout because of a relatively suitable temperature for a period of time, it needs to be planted in a greenhouse in time, otherwise it will also freeze its buds. On the other hand, the Dahlia bulb, which is kept indoors, usually sprouts when the temperature warms up next spring without freezing.
The germination temperature of Dahlia is usually between 19 °C and 21 °C, which can not be reached even in the southern part of China, which is relatively warm in winter. The winter in southern China is generally kept between 0 °c and 10 °c, while in northern China, it is much lower than 0 °c in winter. Therefore, whether in the southern or northern regions of our country, it is basically impossible to sprout naturally in winter, and it is good not to be frozen.
Therefore, even if we provide the necessary temperature conditions for Dahlia to germinate in winter, so that it can finally sprout ahead of time, as long as it loses its warm and constant temperature, its buds will be too frozen to survive. Unless he is kept in a greenhouse all winter, he will surely die.
