At present, Penghu is in the summer tourist season from July to September, especially during the fireworks Festival, which is expected to bring a large number of tourists to Penghu during the epidemic prevention period. Take Magong area as an example, the daily water consumption is about 2.4 to 26000 tons. On the 6th, the first day of the fireworks Festival officially began, and it has increased to 28000 tons per day. In order to ensure a stable water supply, the Taiwan Water Company has planned to meet the increasing demand for tourism water, with a daily supply of 17000 tons of sea and fresh water, a daily supply of 7000 tons of reservoirs and a daily supply of 4000 tons of groundwater to ensure a normal water supply. The Water Conservancy Department and the Taiwan Water Company have also continued to closely monitor the water use situation to maintain a stable water supply demand for the peak water consumption of the Penghu Flower Festival.

Up to now, the water storage rate of the three major reservoirs in Magong, Xingren and Dongwei, Penghu, is still more than 40%, with a total storage capacity of about 930000 tons. In addition, Magong's first and second sea desalination plants still have additional reserve water supply capacity, totaling about 7000 tons per day. If necessary, it can meet the water demand and increase the water supply in a short period of time. Therefore, the maximum short-term supply of the overall water supply system in Magong area is more than 35000 tons per day, which is sufficient to meet the large water demand for tourism in Penghu this summer.

The Water Conservancy Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs further explained that in response to the water demand for future industrial and tourism development in Penghu area, the Executive Yuan has approved the construction of three additional desalination plants, including Magong second Sea Desalination Plant Phase II, Qimei desalination Plant and Jibei desalination Plant. At present, the Taiwan Water Company is in the process of contracting and bidding, and the second phase of Magong second Sea Desalination Plant can be completed as soon as 111 and Qimei and Jibei desalination plants will be completed in 112. It will help the overall water distribution and water supply in Penghu area to be more stable.
