Osmanthus fragrans is a relatively common tree species, but it is one of the ten traditional flowers in China, usually grow branches and leaves green, fragrant, potted planting words have a very high ornamental value, but also more commonly used for landscaping. But if you want to plant potted plants, first we need to prepare the pot soil for them.

Osmanthus fragrans on the soil requirements are not very strict, even if it is ordinary matrix, often can survive. And in the pot culture environment, we should try our best to prepare better pot soil for it. Because it likes deep soil layer, fertile loose, permeable and rich in humus sandy basin soil environment, so we must be prepared according to this standard when preparing soil for it.

Under normal circumstances, when preparing soil for osmanthus potted plants, we can use humus soil or peat soil, garden soil and sand to prepare mixed culture soil according to appropriate proportions. Generally, it is reasonable to mix the three substrates in the ratio of 5:3:2. The pot soil prepared in this way is not only fertile and loose, but also has strong air permeability and water permeability, which is not only convenient for the penetration of water and fertilizer in the later stage, but also less prone to hardening, so it is very beneficial to promote the growth of osmanthus fragrans in the pot culture environment.

Of course, after preparing the pot soil, we also need to adjust the pH of the soil appropriately. Because osmanthus fragrans likes acidic soil, but it is not suitable for growing in too high acidity or alkaline soil, so we generally control its pot soil pH value between 5.5-6.5. However, before using such pots, it is recommended to disinfect them with potassium permanganate solution with a concentration of 0.1%, which is safer to use.

Pot soil quality and quality is a very important factor affecting or even restricting the growth of potted flower plants, and even determines whether they can survive. Although Osmanthus fragrans does not have high soil requirements, it does not like too barren, shallow and easily hardened soil environment, otherwise the plant grows very slowly, thin, ornamental value is not high, even not conducive to flowering. It may cause poor growth at the mildest level and fatal at the worst level, so we must take seriously the problem of soil allocation for it.
