On the river bank of Lugang, at 03:00 in the afternoon, the scorching sun burned the earth into a 37-degree iron plate. Shi Yueying, director general of the Changhua County Environmental Protection Union, skillfully put on cuffs, sunshade hats and sunglasses, taking evidence with a camera in one hand and holding a mobile phone in the other for live streaming. She and the tree physician, construction and competent units were improperly transplanting more than 300 green trees during the river bank renovation. Under the guidance of the tree doctor, Shi Yueying directed the live camera to the competent authority. Ask them to promise the quality of their follow-up work.

As a frontline soldier of environmental protection, Shi Yueying always gives people the impression of being tough. Professor Zhuang Bingjie of the Department of Environmental Engineering of Zhongxing University and Cai Jiayang, an old partner of the Ring League, both confirmed this impression. With one voice, the two described the tough lady of environmental protection in eight words: fierce gunfire and no fight. Having devoted herself to environmental protection for 16 years, the reason why Shi Yueying has not retreated or looked tired is that her feelings for her hometown are like the waves of the sea.

As a native of Lukang, Shi Yueying was raised by the tide at the mouth of the Zhuoshui River. Thirty or forty years ago, my father caught shrimp monkeys (commonly known as "mole cricket shrimp") at the tide and asked his mother to sell them in front of the Matsu temple. The sea did not need irrigation or fertilization. as long as it bent down and stretched out its hand, the sea generously gave them its abundance.

However, the intertidal zone was reclaimed and turned into an industrial zone in Zhangbin. The development project, which claims to be the largest industrial zone in the country, was originally scheduled to be completed in 2000, but the current progress is only 45%. Among them, the Yuwei area has been abandoned for a long time and no manufacturers have settled in, so it has become the largest solar power plant in the country. The children of the future will no longer be able to step on that intertidal zone and turn their silhouettes into tide riders in the setting sun. Shih Yueying said that she used foul language in the past. "I am most outraged by the injustice that has sacrificed ecology and failed to make good use of it."

Shi Yueying has been fond of animals and plants since childhood. She once racked her brains when choosing courses in higher vocational education. Should she study gardening? Or an animal doctor? Later, she went to study in animal medicine, taking care of cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens brought her great joy. When she graduated, she also won the first ranch internship award. ── is the first female student to win the award over the years.

After graduating from higher vocational education, Shi Yueying sent her to enter the Department of Animal Obstetrics of Chiayi Agricultural College. Because he was bent on herding sheep, the teacher introduced him to the pasture to raise sheep after graduation. But after doing the job for two weeks, she withdrew: the sheep were locked up in an enclosure to extract milk, which was not what a "ranch" should look like. Shi Yueying's reasons for leaving the job have been repeated in her career: she has a kind and soft attitude towards nature, but her real job requires her to harden her heart.

For example, she raised the breeding rate from just over 70% to more than 90% at the Taishan Enterprise Pig Farm. But the piglets were taken care of in vain in order to send them to the slaughterhouse, and she could not pass such a threshold in her heart. For example, in an experimental drug in a biotech company, the antigen has to be injected into the back of a rabbit, with more than 60 injections in a dozen. She felt uneasy as she watched the rabbit suffer.

Switch to ecological investigation, but need to recite the development case and make up your mind to enter the environmental protection sector.

At the same time, her classmates who worked in the ecological research company asked her for bird watching. Shi Yueying went to Hanbao Wetland, and the colorful world of wild birds opened the door in front of her. Every day, she takes an atlas and binoculars, and goes bird watching as soon as she gets off work. She wants to recognize all these bird relatives who live in the same land as well as the bird friends who visit and transit, and take all the big and small things to heart. Seeing that she was so serious, her classmate's boss poached her into the field of ecological investigation. Shih Yueying thought: as long as we take good care of nature, all the animals and plants in nature will follow, and ecological investigation is the work of taking care of nature. This time, she finally didn't have to harden her heart.

However, the ecological survey should aim at a comprehensive understanding of the ecology of the development area, in order to work out the development mode with the least ecological impact, or put forward the conclusion that it is not suitable for development. However, the boss mentioned that there were conservation salamanders in the area they investigated, but they could not be included in the report, otherwise there would be no final payment for the investigation. Several times down, Shih Yueying understood that the ecological survey did not really want to protect the environment, but to endorse the development project and "walk the procedure." In addition, at that time, she lost her camera and her driver's license was revoked, which made her feel like bad luck. As soon as she knew that the Changhua County Environmental Protection Alliance was recruiting, she changed the runway and became a researcher before she took over as director-general.

It takes more knowledge to protect the environment, and learn kung fu in ecological research.

After working in the Ring League, she and researcher Cai Jiayang investigated the source of irrigation of cadmium rice farmland and found that the water in the ditch was all brick red. Shih Yueying asked the local neighbor, who unexpectedly said that this phenomenon has been going on for 20 or 30 years!

"Twenty or thirty years!" Isn't that a generation? The answer hit Shi Yueying hard on her heart. The neighbor said that it was ineffective to report to the environmental protection unit many times, so they had to be patient all the time, and brick red was regarded as a habit. Shi Yueying later found a ditch as black as ink, which was also pumped by farmers to irrigate the farmland. The farmer told her that the emission manufacturers had come to her door and threatened that they had "dredged" the Environmental Protection Bureau, and that anyone who reported it was in vain.

The environment in Changhua is so bad that Shi Yueying seems to have found the reason. Wrong things can be washed away by various political means, and local people can only swallow grievances. How can this situation be changed? Shi Yueying was outraged, but there was nothing she could do with her bare hands.

Just then, she listened to the ecologist teacher Zheng Xianyou's speech and admired his academic attitude very much. Shi Yueying understood that protecting the environment needed more knowledge, so she chose to study at the Institute of Ecology at Jingyi University to learn kung fu from teacher Zheng.
