The delicate relationship between oxytocin and sows
Raising sow friends, I believe all have a soft spot for oxytocin. And I am, too.
First, the cause of sow endometriosis, generally by lochia endless, resulting in bacterial reproduction caused.
The sow is exhausted at the end of production, so it is very likely that the lochia cannot be discharged in a limited time. At this time, oxytocin is injected once every two or three days after delivery to mechanically strengthen the contractile ability of the uterus and discharge lochia.
Second, sow labor, oxytocin service, wrong...
Oxytocin is specifically prescribed for singleton animals only because oxytocin enhances uterine contractility, forcing exceptions to each litter, causing asphyxiation in the rear piglets and thus potentially causing dystocia in sows. Dystocia, then increase the dosage, the result, leading to sow endocrine disorders. Estrus after weaning, that is, repeated with infertility, but is not to find the reason, to suspect the virus disease. Do you think there is such a situation?
III. Summary.
Oxytocin is not unusable, but it has to be used. The most commonly used one is to solve the difficult labor of sows, but the consequences are not difficult for us to see with the naked eye. Low doses can shorten labor, high doses can cause dystocia, weak fetus, stillbirth and abnormal estrus after weaning and repeated infertility.
