What is the harm of raising pigs in cement land has been picked out!
Whose fault is it that pigs are not raised well? Feed, environment, management and so on. I have recently seen several such articles about the harm of cement floor to pigs. Is this really the case? How to solve these problems? Take a look at it with the editor.
First of all, look at the hazards:
1. it is easy to cause diarrhea in pigs.
As the ground was not very smooth during the construction of the pig farm, a large amount of cement was used to level it, and the average thickness of cement laying was 6 Murray and 8 cm. Especially in winter, the cement floor is easy to absorb heat, and the level of heat dissipation is very poor.
When encounter cold weather, the cement ground is very cold, the pig itself does not have much hair, abdominal hair is even less, how to talk about the heat preservation?
In the absence of floor heating, pigs are prone to diarrhea due to cold belly, and pigs will only pile up and stack up.
I remember that when I was raising pigs 13 years ago, in winter, I had to put a lot of fine soil in the place where the pigs slept, plant ash, crushed wheat straw, etc., to keep the pigs warm and prevent piglets from diarrhea. At that time, there was no warm ground. People's living conditions are not that good.
Fortunately, with the progress of the times and the improvement of the economic level, no one can do what you can't think of. This kind of cement floor will mostly cause diarrhea in stage care pigs, and medium and large pigs will be better.
2. it is easy to cause the rough fur of pigs and affect the appearance of pigs.
Because the cement floor is made of fine sand and cement, but there is a lot of fine sand on the surface, it is easy to bruise the fur when the pig lies down, and the fur will be rough over and over again.
3. It is easy to cause limb and hoof disease in sows.
Especially for the sows in the limit bar, the smooth cement floor can easily lead to split strain of the sows, and the rough cement floor will lead to contusion of the skin of the joints, forming a large scab, and it will also lead to foot inflammation and nail lengthening of the hind limbs of the sows. the contusion and proliferation of the meat mat at the bottom will affect the estrus and breeding of sows.
4. It is easy to cause the diseases of Streptococcus suis and Haemophilus parasuis in fattening pigs and conservation.
Everyone can find swollen bumps of different sizes on the joints of the front and rear limbs of fattening pigs and nursery pigs in their own pig farm. What is that? It's either Streptococcus or Haemophilus parasuis. Some people always say that I have been vaccinated against Streptococcus and Haemophilus parasuis.
The editor wants to say that these two diseases are both conditional and stress diseases, and the conditions are caused by the cement floor. Piglets and fattening pigs are not very quiet, it is easy to wear floor mats during fighting to infect pathogens, thus the disease is formed.
5. it can easily lead to mineral deficiency and nutrient absorption in pigs.
Pigs have always liked soft ground and soil ground since ancient times, which is inherent. Now the ground becomes a hard cement floor, which will lead to the disorder of hormone regulation in pigs and affect the metabolic absorption of nutrients.
Pigs also like to bite and lick the ground, and some trace elements and minerals are obtained from the ground. If it is a cement floor, eating by a pig can only damage the gastrointestinal tract, but if it is a brick floor, it will not happen.
What measures should be taken to raise pigs on the cement floor?
1. Measures to keep warm and cool down
Due to the poor thermal conductivity of cement, the pigsty on the cement floor is often cold in winter and hot in summer! But the pig is a constant temperature animal, let the pig lie on the cement ground which is too hot and too cold, the big pig may be able to bear, the newborn pig is not good! What should I do?
When building the cement floor, the big pig and the sow pen should be tilted as far as possible, and the ground of the little pigsty should be gentle, so as to keep the pigsty dry!
Keep plenty of water in hot summer and sprinkle the ground regularly! In the cold winter, pig farmers in the north can use fire pits and keep the ground warm, while friends in the south put a piece of wood in the pigsty to let the pigs sleep!
In addition, build some small rooms, hang warm lights to let the pigs sleep inside, reduce contact with the cement floor! In fact, pig farmers usually collect some hay, straw or rags, and it is possible to use them properly.
2. Anti-skid and injury prevention measures
Pig farmers all know that the cement floor is hard and slippery, and pigs walking on it will hurt their hooves, or even slip and hurt themselves.
What should I do?
Try to apply less cement when building a big pigsty to prevent fat pigs from slipping and hurting themselves. In the construction of sow pens, it is recommended that half of the floor is made of cement, half of concrete or clay bricks, which will greatly reduce the wear and tear of the hooves, and it is OK to use boards without fear of trouble. Of course, the best way is to let the pig walk on the land outside the enclosure!
3. Pay attention to the method of batching.
In nature, animals like to eat dirt. Do pig breeders know why animals do this?
In fact, animals gnaw at the soil in order to absorb minerals! On the cement floor, pigs often arch fence or arch cement ground, the reason is caused by the lack of minerals, especially iron, pigs can not absorb often cause anemia, or even emaciation and death!
Many pig-raising friends, three days before the birth of piglets, intramuscular injection of iron dextran is to supplement iron to prevent piglets from anemia! Pig breeders with their own feed, it is recommended to use premix or multi-mineral multi-dimensional, so that the nutrition of pigs will be comprehensive, so that they will not fight and arch the concrete ground! Of course, pig breeders with conditions, it is best to use full-stage feed!
