Planting method and time of spring onion
First, planting time
Spring onions are hardy. They are usually sown in March-April, harvested in June-July, sown in September-October, harvested in April-May of the following year, and can be planted in autumn and winter in the south.
II. Planting methods
1. Soil: it likes soft, nutritious, draining and breathable soil, so it is not suitable for growing in sandy soil.
2. Lighting: it prefers gentle scattered light. If the light is too strong, it needs to be shaded, otherwise there may be yellowing of leaves, increase of fibers, deterioration of taste and so on.
3. Temperature: it likes cooler climate and has strong cold tolerance, and 13 ℃-20 ℃ is the most suitable during budding period; 10 ℃-23 ℃ is the best during stem and leaf growth period, and the growth rate decreases significantly when the temperature exceeds 28 ℃.
4. Watering: the root system is relatively sparse, so it needs less water than scallions, but it is not resistant to drought, so keep the soil warm and moist.
5. Fertilization: spring and summer are its growing period, which can be applied 1-2 times as appropriate, the first topdressing can be in 20-25 days, and the second topdressing can be in 12-15 days.
