Porcine epidemic diarrhea

Porcine epidemic diarrhea is a kind of intestinal infectious disease of pigs caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus PEDv, which often occurs in cold season. The main symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration. The small intestine was dilated, the intestine was filled with yellow fluid, mesenteric congestion, mesenteric lymph node edema, and intestinal villi shortened. Pigs of all ages can be infected. The incidence of suckling piglets is the highest, and the incidence of sows varies greatly, generally 15% to 90%.

Point

Special

Porcine epidemic diarrhea occurs when the virus enters the small intestine directly after oral and nasal infection. The virus proliferation first caused the damage of organelles, followed by cell dysfunction and intestinal villi atrophy, resulting in a decrease in absorption surface area and a significant decrease in the content of alkaline phosphatase in small intestinal mucosa, resulting in diarrhea caused by disturbance of nutrient absorption, which belongs to osmotic diarrhea, which is the main cause of diarrhea. Dehydration caused by severe diarrhea is the main cause of death in diseased pigs. The main route of infection of diarrhea is the digestive tract.

I. early stage of the disease: cut off the transmission of the pathogen

1. Isolate the diseased pigs so that the diseased pigs are concentrated in a certain area.

2. Establish an isolation zone outside the isolation area, strictly disinfect and spread quicklime on the walkway and the periphery of the pig house.

3, single-family breeding, special person is responsible for, it is forbidden to visit the house. All personnel entering and leaving the sick pig house must be strictly disinfected (take a bath, change overalls, water shoes, step on the disinfection basin, and the overalls should be soaked in disinfectant for one night and washed separately) before entering the pigsty.

Second, strengthen disinfection and reduce the viral load in the environment

1. Increase the frequency of pig disinfection, bring pig disinfection at least 3 times a week (boar house, reserve house, Paihuai house), delivery house 1-2 times a day dry powder with pig disinfection, in order to reduce the humidity of pig house and give sick pigs a dry and comfortable environment.

2. The feces under the delivery bed are covered with quicklime, and the fecal tank is drained once a week and scattered with caustic soda (3%).

3. When cleaning the empty house, clean the delivery house thoroughly.

4. After cleaning, the delivery house must be fumigated (formaldehyde + potassium permanganate).

III. Vaccination of inactivated vaccine against epidemic diarrhea

1. After getting the vaccine as soon as possible, 100% emergency universal immunity for the whole herd of breeder pigs (backup, boar, parturient sow)

2. Recovery of fetal immunity 14 days after general immunization, once for sows 40 days before parturition, and once for sows 14 days before delivery. (immune mode: Houhai acupoint injection, 1 dose / time)

3. The immunization of the vaccine can not be stopped until the pigs stop diarrhea (no new diarrhea piglets appear) at least 2 months.

IV. Environmental control

1. The temperature of the delivery house shall be controlled at 24 ℃ during the day, and the lowest temperature at night shall not be lower than 20 ℃.

2. The humidity of the delivery house is controlled below 75% to provide a comfortable environment for sick pigs.

5. Nursing care in delivery room

1. Wipe the fields with diarrhea with 3% fiery alkali disinfectant once a day, and dry the stains with a dry mop; clean them and then disinfect them with pigs.

2. The piglets were milked off part of the milk before eating colostrum and scrubbed and disinfected with 0.1% potassium permanganate.

3. Sow breasts are scrubbed with disinfectant twice a day. When piglets are dirty, soak in warm water with towels and wring dry. Wipe and dry piglets and smear Mistol or other dry powder all over the body.

4. all the piglets without diarrhea were placed in a small number of healthy sows, the diarrhea piglets were concentrated in the sows with good lactation performance, and the other sows were weaned ahead of time.

5. the nests with epidemic diarrhea are generally accompanied by lack of milk and no milk in sows. Traditional Chinese medicine can be used to promote milk and hot compress the breast to improve the milk yield of sows.

VI. Symptomatic treatment

1. Rehydration: within 12 hours after diarrhea in piglets, oral salt rehydration solution was used for oral salt supplement or intraperitoneal injection of 5% glucose saline injection.

2. Use adsorbents such as silicon, carbon and silver to protect intestinal mucosa and slow down the symptoms of dehydration. Dilute it into paste with oral salt supplement solution, 5ml per piglet, once a day for 3 days.

3. Drinking water administration: multi-dimensional + astragalus polysaccharides + colistin to prevent mixed infection and secondary infection caused by bacteria.

VII. matters needing attention

1. The whole group of pigs shall not be re-fed at any time.

2. It is forbidden to use foreign live vaccine for immunization.
