Pesticides causing pig poisoning include organophosphorus, carbamate and chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides. The main causes are accidental mixing of pesticides into feed, scattering of pesticides in pig houses and excessive spraying, pouring or licking of pesticides.

1. Organophosphorus and carbamate poisoning

Clinical symptoms: salivation, defecation, vomiting, gait instability, and then breathing difficulties, muscle tremors;

Pathological changes: no characteristic lesions, usually a large amount of fluid in the respiratory tract and pulmonary edema;

Treatment measures: intravenous atropine sulfate at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg body weight, combined with oral activated charcoal for severe cases.

2. Chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticide poisoning

Clinical symptoms: hyperexcitability and tonic-clonic seizures;

Pathological changes: only mechanical damage;

Treatment: No specific drugs, but long-acting barbiturates can be used to calm pigs.

Auxiliary measures: If skin contact should be washed with warm soapy water, if oral intake can be used activated carbon and water suspension gavage, serious to intravenous glucose and infusion.
