All kinds of plants introduced in the plant library have their own characteristic forms. However, the natural form can not satisfy people's aesthetics very well, but the growth direction and shape of plants can be controlled by some artificial methods, such as proper pruning, control of the application of water and fertilizer, use of hormones and so on. in order to form the posture requirements that people want to achieve. Pruning also plays a certain role in controlling the flowering and growth of plants. at the same time, pruning is also a commonly used method to control plant morphology, and it is also used as a standard to judge the level of flower growers. There are several main methods.

1. Pick the heart. Is to remove growing twigs or tips. The main purpose is to control the growth of plants so that they have more branches rather than upward growth. At the same time, picking the heart can also delay the opening of flowers.

2. Pruning. Cut off the old, weak and sick branches, and trim the overdense and young branches, so that the plants can better penetrate the light and ventilation, and at the same time cut off the unnecessary branches so that nutrients are evenly distributed on each branch to promote the balanced growth of the plant. It can be done during the growing period or dormant period of the plant. Another way is to prune most of the branches of the plant, usually during the dormant period, or when the growth is low. This can dwarf the plant and reduce the starting point for the growth of new branches.

3. Pick leaves, flowers and fruits. Picking leaves is to remove those leaves that are aging or too dense or affect the light, sometimes the leaves that have a wide gap in growth can be removed, and sometimes the removal of old leaves can promote the growth of new leaves. Picking flowers is mainly to remove the residual flowers, some plant residual flowers wither in the branches do not fall, affecting the growth of buds, so it needs to be picked in time. Picking is mainly to remove too many and too small fruits, so as to ensure that other fruits can get nutrients and grow normally.

4. Wipe sprouts. Remove the lateral buds from a branch to prevent it from affecting the growth of other branches and leaves, reducing the appearance of too many branches, so that the remaining branches can fully absorb nutrients and grow healthily.

These methods are not independent and sometimes need to be used comprehensively and complement each other. Different forms of plants, or in different stages of plant growth to choose appropriate methods for pruning, to promote plant beauty, but also conducive to the normal growth of plants.
