Legislator Liu Yihao Strives for Subsidies to Taimali Farmers Association to Promote Taiwan's Quinoa Industry Upgrade

In order to strengthen the promotion of Taiwan quinoa agriculture and tourism industry in Taitung, legislator Liu Weihao assisted the Taimali District Agricultural Association to apply for the "Rural Regeneration Fund Program" from the Agriculture Committee, seeking a subsidy of 1.1 million yuan to implement the "South Hui Treasure Taiwan quinoa industry upgrading guidance demonstration red quinoa flower landscape construction plan", which is expected to hold a red quinoa promotion activity by the end of the year, and create a 5-hectare red quinoa flower, becoming a new highlight of the South Hui landscape.

Legislator Liu Weihao explained that red quinoa is a traditional crop of Taitung aborigines. It has been cultivated for more than 100 years. Because quinoa is rich in dietary fiber, protein and various minerals, especially red quinoa has higher nutritional value than imported quinoa. It is known as grain ruby and was renamed Taiwan quinoa in 2008. In recent years, the value and industry of red chenopodium in Taitung have also begun to receive attention. If guidance and planning are given, it is expected to become an opportunity to upgrade the tribal economy and attract young people to return home.

Legislator Liu Weihao said that this time, he assisted the Taimali Regional Farmers Association to apply for subsidies to promote Taitung Taiwan Chenopodium, and made strategic planning and marketing for Taiwan Chenopodium industry. He was approved by the Agricultural Committee's "Rural Regeneration Fund Plan" for 1.1 million yuan. It is expected that by the end of the year, the promotion and marketing activities of Nanhui Treasure Red Chenopodium characteristic industry will be held, and the planting area will be expanded to 5 hectares. In the future, the red Chenopodium flower landscape can be created in Daren Township.
