The diagnostic methods of flower pests can be divided into two categories: one is direct diagnosis, that is, it is identified by the morphological characteristics of pests in different periods, which is more intuitive and simple; the other is indirect diagnosis, that is, it is diagnosed by the damage characteristics of insect pest residues or flowers.

The residues of insect pests include derivatives of insect pests (such as egg shell, pupa shell, molting, residual hair and dead body, etc.) and excreta of insect pests (such as feces, honeydew, silk mesh, foam, etc.).

When diagnosing the symptoms of plant aboveground damage, attention must be paid to the difference between diseases and insect pests. Especially when the root of flower plant is damaged by insects, the aboveground leaves also show symptoms similar to yellowing or Fusarium wilt caused by nematodes and viruses. At this time, you must pay attention to take the root of the plant to observe whether there are insect bite wounds and insect bodies. Attention should also be paid to whether the round disease spots on the leaves of the plant may be caused by pests. The simple method is to see through the injured spot in the direction of the sun. if the spot tissue is transparent and without mesophyll, it is likely to be caused by pests. The existence of pests is not ruled out here, which provides a wound for subsequent pathogens to invade people, that is, the so-called compound infection.
