The balcony to the west or southwest is not conducive to flower growth at noon and afternoon in summer. Sometimes when the noon temperature rises and there is too much water in the basin, it is easy to rot the roots. The way to prevent heat can be built with bamboo curtains into a shade, or some lianas such as morning glory, lentils and honeysuckle are planted around the balcony for shade. Individual potted flowers can also be temporarily moved indoors to avoid the scorching sun. You can also put some bark, eggshells or stones on the potted soil. But do not cover the basin soil with linoleum or plastic.

In addition to shading, water should also be sprayed on the leaves at noon and in the afternoon, because as soon as the liquid moisture evaporates into a gas, it will take away the surrounding hot air. So placing a basin or tank next to potted flowers can also play a cooling role.

In summer, flowerpots can also be placed on ladders with different high and low positions. If there is no wooden frame, empty pots can also be inverted and high potted flowers can be placed in different positions to form a shady microclimate and have a certain cooling effect.
