Water imbalance was characterized by drought and waterlogging.

The degree of drought damage to flowers varies with flower species. Generally divided into direct harm and indirect harm two categories. The direct harm is due to the lack of water in the soil during drought, the leaves can not be replenished after transpiration, causing protoplast dehydration, directly destroying the cell structure, resulting in plant death. This damage is generally irreversible. Indirect harm is that after cell dehydration, energy metabolism in flowers is disordered, nutrient absorption and transportation are blocked, and plant growth and development are affected. This process is slow and usually does not result in plant death.

There are two reasons why flowers die:

1, too much water, the air in the soil is reduced, resulting in soil hypoxia, root respiration weakened, long-term will make flowers suffocate death.

2. Excessive moisture causes a sharp decrease in oxygen and accumulation of carbon dioxide in the soil, which reduces the oxidation-reduction potential in the soil, thus inhibiting the activity of aerobic bacteria and promoting the activity of anaerobic bacteria. The metabolism of anaerobic bacteria will produce a variety of organic acids (formic acid, oxalic acid, lactic acid, etc.), or produce toxic substances such as hydrogen sulfide and methane, which hinder the respiration and nutrient release of flower roots, and cause root poisoning, decay, and even death.
