The soil of orchids had better choose acid soil with loose air permeability and strong drainage. The roots of orchids are fleshy roots and air roots. Poor air permeability and drainage will lead to impervious or waterlogged rotten roots. At the same time, orchids like acid and grow better in acid soil. When preparing, rotten leaf soil, laterite and river sand can be mixed to promote exuberant growth.

What kind of soil is good?

1. Breathable

First of all, of course, it is necessary to ensure the looseness and permeability of the soil, so as to ensure the smooth breathing of the orchid roots. As we all know, orchids are fleshy roots and air roots. If the air permeability of the soil is not strong enough, the roots will not develop well and their growth will be greatly reduced.

2. Drainage

As mentioned above, an orchid is a fleshy root, which means it is not resistant to waterlogging. If the soil drainage performance is not good, the water can not be absorbed in the growth process, it will make the root bubble slowly rot in the water, which will lead to the direct death of the plant, so it is particularly important to have good drainage.

3. Partial acidity

Orchids generally like acid, combined with its characteristics, the soil must be slightly acidic, can not use alkaline soil or too clayey soil, which will lead to poor plant growth. But also should not be too sour, generally keep the ph value between 6-6.5, otherwise it is not conducive to its growth.

2. Preparation method

You can use some clean garden soil and the same amount of rotten leaf soil to stir evenly, or you can use rotten leaf soil, laterite and river sand according to the proportion of 6:3:1 to cultivate soil, which not only ensures drainage and ventilation, but also has sufficient nutrients. It can make the orchid grow more exuberantly in the early stage.
